When viewing your messages, you will find the following status icons, depending on:
- the type of message: SMS messages, MMS messages, MMS notification, MMS sending in
progress
- where your message is stored: messages stored on your SIM card (SMS only), messages stored
in the phone’s memory (MMS notifications).
7.2 Viewing messages
When a new SMS arrives, the following message is displayed:“Read your new messages?”, a beep sounds

and the icon shows up.
7.2.1 Viewing short messages “Text/SMS”
If you only have one new message, press to read it directly from the main screen. If you have several new
messages, you can access a list. Select the appropriate message by scrolling with the navigation key then press
. Read the whole message scrolling with the navigation key .
When you receive a message, you can decide whether or not to save the pictures, sounds or text for later
use.
Available options
While reading an SMS, you can access the following options by pressing :

Delete • Delete the message.
Reply • Reply to the message.
Forward • Forward the message.
Archive • Save from your SIM card to the
telephone memory.
Save picture • Save a picture contained in the
message.
Saveanimation• Save an animation contained in
the message.
Save melody • Save a melody contained in the
message.
Save canned • Save the message as a predefined
message.
Save number • Save one or more numbers
contained in the message.
Launch WAP • Go to the WAP address
contained in the message.
Back • Return to the contents of the
message.
Exit • Return to the main screen.

7.2.2 Viewing “Multimedia/MMS” and “Voice/Vox MMS” messages

You have two ways of managing the reception of MMS: immediate or deferred reception. Confirm your
choice from “Sending param.” section in the “Messages” menu (see page 39).
•“Immediate reception”: when in idle mode, the icon will indicate that a new message is being
downloaded.Then the message “Read your new messages?” appears. Press to go to the message
options and select “Open”.The contents of this message will be automatically stored in the memory of
your telephone. Using the appropriate options you can record images, sounds or texts contained in the
messages and use them later.
