7. Anti-tippers (optional accessories)
As your wheelchair may already be equipped with anti-tippers, Alber anti-tippers are
offered as optional accessories only. The use of original anti-tippers is subject to the
instructions and safety information that apply to their use and are provided by the
manufacturer.
7.1 Attaching the Alber anti-tippers
Push the fork [28] of the anti-tipper fully into the holders [8] on the left and the
right of the viamobil as shown in the diagram.
Both parts must be interlocked if the fork [28] is fully in the holder [8]. To do so,
press the release button [29] and push the quickpin [30] all the way through the
holes on the fork [28] and holder [8].
Now check whether the anti-tipper is correctly connected to the holder [8].
Without pressing the release button [29], it must not be possible to remove the
anti-tipper or the quickpin [30] from the holder [8].
7.2 Removing the Alber anti-tippers
Press the release button [29] and pull it all the way out of the holder [8] and fork
[28] of the anti-tipper.
Pull the anti-tipper out of the holder [8].
Store the anti-tippers in a safe place to ensure that they cannot get damaged.
We strongly recommend equipping the viamobil or the wheelchair
with anti-tippers, as they greatly enhance safety when driving on
level ground!
When climbing slopes of more than 4,5° (8 %), the use of anti-
tippers (installed in pairs) is mandatory. Please note that certain
wheelchair models must always be equipped with Alber anti-tippers
following the Alber bracket list. This requirement is based on the
results of combined tests.
Anti-tippers are not transfer rollers. They are only intended to pre-
vent a wheelchair from tipping over completely.
For this reason, pay particular attention on steep inclines not to
travel on the wheels of the anti-tippers. This would result in rapid
wheel wear.
The wheelchair user should shift their weight forward to prevent the
wheelchair from tipping.
