6.0 BM 50-400 and DM 50-330
The BM 50-400 and the DM 50-330 can deliver compressed air wherever it is
needed, thanks to their reliable fuel engine. Placing instructions are similar to the
normal electric models. However, you should realise that the fuel engine produces
poisoness smoke. So let it run only outdoors or in a heavy ventilated room.
Further details you will find in the safety instructions that go with the engine.
6.1 FUNCTIONING
The fuel engine drives the pump by a V-belt. In peristaltic moves, the cylinders
press air through a cooler into the air tank. A non-return valve with a clearance
valve (20) is mounted on the air tank.
As long as the air tank pressure is below the pressure to turn off the machine (10
bar), the pump presses the air into the air tank through the non-return valve. When
the right pressure has been reached, the clearance valve will open. When
pressure drops again, the clearance valve will close and air will be pressed into the
tank again.
6.2 OPERATING
Notice: before starting, first read the instruction manual of the fuel engine.
Starting procedures are as follows:
- make sure that the air tank is empty
- open the fuel cock
-
open gas handle for one-third
-
with cold engine: choke closed
-
with hot engine: choke half opened
-
pull starting wire gentle until some tension can be felt
-
then pull wire firmly (not entirely to the end)
-
let the engine run freely until it’s warm (several minutes)
-
shift gas handle further open
The pump is now running and building up pressure in the tank. If the right pressure
has been reached, the clearance valve will open and air will run away. At this point
the gas handle can be shifted back. It is well advised not to let the engine run
faster than strictly needed for delivery of air. In that way, you prevent the machine
from long periods of running freely unnecessary and you save fuel.
To stop the compressor, you only need to close the fuel cock or press the stop
button. You will find more details in the instruction manual of the fuel engine.
