without an earthing contact as the design conforms to safety class II.
BATTERIES
New battery packs reach full capacity after 4 - 5 chargings and
dischargings. Battery packs which have not been used for some time
should be recharged before use.
General note concerning NiMH batteries:
The capacity of the battery is reduced when the temperature falls below -
10°C.
Long-term storage at temperatures higher than +40°C may have negative
effects on the capacity of the battery.
CHARACTERISTICS
After inserting the battery into the reception of the charger the battery will
automatically be charged (red lamp is illuminated continuously, green
lamp is flashing)
When a hot or cold battery pack is inserted into the charger (flashing red
lamp), charging will begin automatically once the battery reaches the
correct charging temperature (-5°C...50°C).
Charging time varies depending on the battery temperature, charge
needed and the type of battery pack being charged.
As soon as charging is completed, the charger switches over to ”trickle
charge to maintain the full capacity (green control lamp is illuminated
continuously, red lamp off)
If both LEDs flash at the same time, either the battery has not been
completely mounted or there is a fault in the battery or the charger. For
safety reasons you must stop using the charger and battery immediately
and have them inspected by an AEG Customer Service Centre.

  • Hello.
I bought a new genuine AEG battery for my old AL9618 and it won't charge up. Only the red light on the charger is illuminating - no other lights light up.
If I carefully wriggle the battery while it is inserted, an orange light on the back of the battery illuminates but the other three orange lights stay off. It will stay this way indefinitely. Has my charger died?
Thank you, Derek, Australia. Submitted on 15-4-2021 at 10:16
