email is a very important means of communication that can be used effectively in the shopping selection,
ordering, payment and after-sales processes. This manual focuses on the way email can be used to make
payment processing easier.
Adyen supports several methods of using email for payments:
• Using a generic “Pay by Email” button on the payment page;
• Sending a mail with payment instructions or reminders; and
• Sending out emails directly to customers with payment instructions.
The following chapters will discuss these methods in more detail.

This is a technical manual aimed at IT personnel involved in integrating merchants' systems with those at
Adyen.
