Initiation
Welcome to your new XORO Note 140 Notebook. This quick qtart guide gives you an overview about the
product, operation as well as support and compliance information. Please read the instructions in the
official Windows 10 Operating guide from Microsoft as well.
In order to use the device you need to create a user account at Microsoft unless you already have an
account, to be able to use the device without restrictions. If you have forgotten your password, you can
reset it under www.live.com.
Switching on and off
To turn on the device press and hold the power button until the startup screen appears. The system
startup may take several minutes, please wait for the end of the operation. If necessary, follow the
installation wizard for easily setting up the device. To turn off the device, hold the power button until the
shutoff screen appears. Drag the image that appears down to shut down the notebook. Alternatively, you
can shut down the device in the Windows start menu, restart it or put in standby mode.
Standby and Hibernate
Depending on the configuration the device goes into hibernation when it is not used for some time in
order to save battery power. Use the power button to turn it on again. Press the power button briefly to
switch to standby mode. Briefly press the power button to turn the device on again.

Battery and Charging
Use the supplied AC adapter for charging your XORO notebook. The device is ready to operate even
during charging. For a long battery life, we recommend, not to use the device during charging.
Notes:
Charge the battery before first use completely.
For best performance lithium-ion batteries need to be used frequently. In case of low usage
charge the battery at least once every month.
If the device's battery is completely drained, connect it for at least 5-10 minutes to a power
source. Now the notebook can be immediately put back into operation.
Close unused apps to extend the battery life of the device.

USB ports and memory card
The device has one USB 3.0 and two USB 2.0 ports. These ports can be used to connect devices (USB
flash drives, hard drives) or USB input devices (mouse, keyboard, etc.). The device also has a microSD
memory card slot.
To insert the microSD card (Max. 128GB), make sure that the memory card points in the
right direction, as shown on the device.
Press the Micro SD card into the card reader until it clicks.
To remove the microSD card, press it again slightly, until the memory card is ejected.
Notes:
Only the file systems FAT / FAT32 / NTFS are supported. If a medium is formatted with another file
system, it may not be detected by the device.
Unfortunately, there are a variety of different SD cards and USB 2.0 storage devices on the market, so a
basic compatibility of all storage media can not be guaranteed.
A direct USB connection with another PC is not possible.
The USB port on the left side of the device (7) is not suitable for USB devices with power consumption
(eg. USB 2.0 hard drives without external power supply or to charge smartphones or tablets). Instead,
the second USB port on the right side (11). can be used
Headphone
The device has a headphone jack. To use it commercially available headphones with a 3.5 mm jack plug
are required. The built-in speaker on the bottom will be turned off automatically when using a headphone.
Microphone
The device has a built-in microphone on the right side which can be used for e.g. video telephony
applications or voice control. Make sore it is not to obscured when using it.
Webcam
The device has a built-in webcam for video telephony applications. Depending on the application used the
webcam is automatically started and stopped.
Wi-Fi & Ethernet connection
The device has a built-in Wi-Fi module to establishing a wireless connection to the Internet or network.
Settings can be configured under "Network & Internet / Wi-Fi" in the initial setup of the unit or later in the
Windows system settings.
It is also possible to connect the device to the internet (via a network cable) .
Fold up to the Ethernet port to connect the network cable to the device. The
connection is set up automatically if your router IP addresses are assigned
automatically (DHCP). Settings can be configured at any time under
"Network & Internet / Ethernet" in the Windows control panel.
Bluetooth
A Bluetooth connection can be Set up in the Windows system settings under "Device / Bluetooth". Just
follow the instructions on the screen.
Touchpad
The built-in touchpad enables you to move the cursor by sweeping your finger and evenexecute mouse
clicks. To click, just tap on the touchpad with your finger . Alternatively, you can also use the button on the
left-hand side (left click) undern eath the touchpad. The right button acts as a so-called right-click, e.g. to
display the selection menu.
