Loading Tray 7 (Inserter Tray)
The Inserter tray is an optional paper tray for use with the High Volume Finisher. Use the inserter
tray to add, or insert, post process sheets into your copies. This tray provides a very convenient and
efficient way of adding pre-printed covers or inserts to a copy job.
The tray can feed a range of media weights and types.
• The tray holds up to 250 sheets of 75 gsm (20 lb) paper.
• The media weight range is from 60 (16 lb) to 216 gsm (145 lb).
• The following media sizes can be fed from the tray.
• A4 (8.5x11”) SEF or LEF
• 8.5x13” SEF
• 8.5x14” SEF
• A3 (11x17”) SEF
Note: SEF is Short Edge Feed (where the short edge of the paper is the leading edge when the paper
is fed into the device). LEF is Long Edge Feed (where the paper is oriented so that the long edge is
fed into the device first).
Note: For 80 gsm paper capacities are slightly lower than specified.
It is important to select the correct Type for the media loaded in the tray. The device can detect
different types of media as each page travels through the paper path and will halt a job if a
mismatch occurs.
Only use the types of media specified for use in the tray.
•Plain
•Bond
•Recycled
•Carbonless
•Punched
• Letterhead and Pre-printed
This tray must not be used to feed labels, transparencies or envelopes. The Bypass Tray can be used
for these media types. The optional Envelope Tray can be used in place of Tray 2 for envelopes.
A4 (8.5 x 11”) media may be loaded either LEF or SEF. Media sizes larger than A4 (8.5 x 11”) must
be loaded SEF.
1. Place the media in the correct orientation for the job.
The labels on the top of the Inserter tray provide instructions for input and output orientations.
• Load A4 (8.5 x 11”) LEF originals face up in the document feeder. Load the pages to be
inserted into the job face up and rotated by 180 degrees in the inserter tray.
