Battery instructions
Batteries must not be disposed of with household waste. Every consumer is
legally obligated to dispose of batteries properly at the designated collection
centres.
Never recharge non-rechargeable batteries! Explosion hazard!
Keep batteries away from children, do not throw into fire, short circuit or
dismantle.
If you suspect a battery to have been swallowed, seek immediate medical
attention.
Pay attention to correct polarity when inserting.
Clean battery and device contacts prior to insertion, if required. Immediately
remove depleted batteries from the device! Increased leakage hazard!
Do not expose batteries to any extreme conditions, e.g. on radiators or direct
sunlight! Increased leakage hazard!
Failure to comply with this could result in batteries being discharged beyond
their final charge voltage! Remove batteries immediately, in order to avoid
damage.
Avoid contact with skin, eyes and mucous membranes. When coming into
contact with battery acid, immediately rinse the affected areas with plenty of
clear water and immediately contact a physician.
Remove the batteries from the device, if it is not in use for a longer period of time.
If you suspect a battery has been swallowed, seek immediate medical assistance.
Additional safety instructions for pipe and electricity cable
detectors
Do not use the tool for detecting voltage in non-insulated/exposed cables.
Do not use the devices as a replacement for a voltmeter.
Be aware that the device may possibly not always detect all pipes and cables
correctly.
The following conditions can cause imprecise results:
–Weak battery
Thick walls with thin pipes or electricity cables
Very thick walls
Very deeply positioned electricity cables or pipes
Walls covered with metal
Very damp conditions
Shielded cable
Electrostatic charge
Always test the device prior to use by detecting a known pipe/known
electricity cable.
In case of doubt, always ask a qualified builder.
CAUTION:
The Multi-Sensor is designed for private household use.
It is unsuitable for use in workshops, jewellery shops, etc.

Detecting hidden objects
CAUTION
In order to avoid personal injury or property damage, please note the
following:
Beams/girders are built into brickwork at regular distances. Determine
the distance of the beams/girders prior to working on brickwork.
Irregularities in the distances indicate e.g. electric cables or water lines.
Measurement errors can occur based on the surface condition.
If you detect something, always check whether it is an electric cable.
If the lightning symbol appears in the display, it is a conductive electric
cable.
Static charges can extend the coverage area of an electric cable by up to
30 cm.
Do not carry out any work on brickwork in this area.
Work is only permitted in the area of electric cables, once the power
supply is disconnected at the consumer unit. If in doubt seek the advice
of an electrician.
The detected object can be wider or narrower than shown in the display,
depending on the depth.
Always mark the start and end of the object. The middle between both
marks is then the middle of object.
The following objects (materials) can be detected with the device:
Wood/beams (STUD), maximum detection depth 19mm
Metal (METAL), maximum detection depth 30mm
With the (DEEP) setting, particularly deeply positioned beams/wood and metal
parts can be detected (max. detection depth 38 mm)
Electric cables (AC), maximum detection depth 50mm
Select mode
Press the MODE button to select the required mode
STUD > METAL > DEEP >AC.
Calibrating device
The device must be calibrated to the characteristics of the body (wall, floor,
ceiling):
prior to the start of each search
regularly during a search process (after every 60 seconds)

Calibration is required again after 60 seconds, in order to reduce the
occurrence of measurement errors.
1. Hold device against the surface (selection location whether the object searched
for is very unlikely to be).
2. Keep calibration press down and do not move the device, 3 short beeping tones
confirm successful calibration.
3. Continue to keep key pressed and start search.
Note:
The calibration button must remain pressed during the entire search process
(calibration and search).
If you calibrate too closely to the object or directly on the wood, the calibration
can fail. If the calibration fails, the LC display shows the following symbol
and a long beeping tone sounds.
Please switch the device on again in order to start the calibration.
Move and hold the device several centimetres further to the right of left of the
previous surface and recalibrate.
Searching for/detecting the hidden object
After calibration, slide the device slowly and in a horizontal direction along the
wall (see illustration). Do not lift or tip the device.
The search/detection process is the same in all
4 modes and is clarified on the basis of the
illustration.
The found object must be crossed twice with the
device each time. The crossing takes place in
opposite directions.

a) Display shows only the mode or max. 1 bar = no object nearby.
When you are approaching the sought object, at least 2 bars of the LC display are
filled. With a full bar diagram, please make at mark at the point (see illustration).
b) Increasing bar display – the device is nearing the object
c) Full bar display with constant beep tone = the device is at the beginning
of the object
Continue moving the device in the same direction until no bar or min. 1 bar
appears in the display. Then, move the device in the opposite direction in order
to mark the other edge of the object. Put the mark where the diagram is
completely filled (see illustrations).
The object searched for is situated between both of the marks.
It can be helpful to repeat the object search with a 90° rotated search
direction, in order to determine the expanse of the object searched for.
Metal struts that run in parallel with the device can disrupt the sensor in the
device.

The permanent display of only 1 bar does not mean that an object has been
detected.
You can only be certain of having detected an object if the device is full of bars
and a permanent beeping tone sounds.
If a lightning symbol is displayed in addition to the A
C mode and the bar
diagram, the found object is a LIVE CONDUCTIVE ELECTRIC CABLE.
If you know that the cables run along a specific position, but cannot find them
using the device in AC mode, use the METAL mode. Electric cables can be
shielded by metal coverings. Beams and conductive electric cables that run close
to one another can prevent the distinct detection of the individual objects.
The device also measures hidden posts, slats and metal in walls up to a depth of
38 mm in DEEP mode. The existence of posts, slats and metal is identified.
However, it cannot distinguish between wood and metal.
Cleaning
The Multi-Sensor is maintenance-free.
Clean the device with a dry or slightly damp cloth.
Storage
Store the device in a dry and frost-free place, out of reach for children.
Remove the battery if you are not using the Multi-Sensor over a longer period of
time.
Conformity declaration
The conformity of the product with the legally prescribed standards is
guaranteed. You can find the full conformity declaration on the Internet at
