Hekgolf: De witte, turbulente hekgolf
achter een schip ziet er goed uit,
maar is slecht voor de prestatie van
het systeem. Met de schuifregelaar
kun je variëren tussen geen hekgolf
voor een goede prestatie waarbij al-
leen het schip van de actieve speler
een hekgolf heeft, en hekgolven bij
alle schepen in de buurt ( ook wel
AI-schepen genoemd)

Deeltjesinstellingen: Dit wordt
gebruikt voor de kijkafstand voor
de boeggolven van schepen. Hoe
groter de kijkafstand, hoe hoger de
kwaliteit van de oceaan, maar hoe
slechter de prestatie
Met een specifiek softwareprogramma
zoals Fraps (www.fraps.com) kun je de prestaties van je systeem met het spel zien,
aangegeven met frame rate. Fraps geeft de frame rate in een hoekje van het scherm.
Voor missies met snelle boten, zoals de powerboot, heb je een frame rate nodig van
minimaal 20 – 25. Als je veel van dit soort missies wil spelen, moet je de instellingen
voor de grafische kwaliteit misschien naar beneden bijstellen. Voor grotere schepen is
een frame rate van 13 – 15 genoeg.
8.2 Bediening
Met Ship Simulator Extremes kun je de
instellingen van het toetsenbord en de
joystick aanpassen. Aan alle functies in
het spel kunnen toetsen en regelaars
worden toegewezen.
Opties om de standaardbediening aan te passen.
Er zijn drie secties, die met een drop-downlijst
aan de bovenkant van het scherm geselecteerd
kunnen worden: Interface, Bediening Schepen en
Bediening Camera’s.
Als je dubbelklikt op een element, verschijnt er een dialoogvenster dat je vraagt de toets of joystickknop in
te drukken die je aan die functie wilt toewijzen. Met de Set defaults-knop kun je altijd terug naar de initiële
instellingen. Met de optie “Precisie-sturing” kun je het roer en de motor in kleine stapjes aanpassen, in plaats
van met de maximale waarde.
