Jack for cars with all-wheel drive
(AWD and XC)
The jack should be located so
· Hold the jack against the pin in the jacking
point as illustrated and wind down the jack
foot so that it is pressed flat against the
ground.
· Check again that the jack is mounted
correctly as in the illustration and that
the foot is positioned vertically under
the mounting.
· Lift the car so that the wheel is free.
· Remove the wheel studs and lift off the
wheel.
NOTE! See page 110 for information on the
spare wheel.
WARNING!
·
Never crawl under the car when it
is raised on a jack!
· The car and the jack should be on a
solid horizontal surface.
· The car's original jack should be used
for wheel changing. All other work on
the car should be carried out using
workshop jacks and axle stands under
the part of the car which is raised.
· Apply the parking brake, put the car
in 1st gear or reverse on manual
gearbox and position P on the
automatic gearbox.
· Put chocks in front of and behind the
wheels to remain on the ground. Use
large wooden blocks or large stones.
· The jack screw should be kept well
lubricated.
Changing wheels
Fitting
·
Clean the contract surfaces on the wheel and
hub.
· Mount the wheel and tighten the wheel bolts.
· Lower the car so that the wheels cannot
rotate. Tighten the wheel studs crosswise and
in torque steps. Tightening torque: 140 Nm
(14.0 kpm). It is important that they are
tightened to the correct torque. Tightening
should be checked with a torque wrench.
· Fit the hub cap.
· Screw the jack together before returning it
to the cargo compartment.
· Ensure that the jack and tool kit are properly
secured and do not rattle.
