e) Current Probe Measurement “A“ at VC280
ƽ
Do not exceed the maximum permitted input values. Do not touch any circuits or
parts of circuits if there could be voltages higher than 50 V ACrms or 75 V DC present
within them. Danger to life!
The voltage in the measuring circuit may not exceed 600 V.
The measuring range for “current probe measurement” is a high-impedance range
that can only be used with the “CLA40” probe converter. Direct measurement is not
permissible.
With a probe converter, the VC280 makes it possible to measure direct and alternate currents up to 40 A.
Measurement is performed contact-free through a current probe sensor. You no longer need to interrupt
the power circuit for this probe measurement.
The current probe converter can be used for direct and alternate current measurements. At the output,
10 mV per ampere measured are output.
The measuring range for “current probe measurement” is a high-impedance range that can only be used
with the “CLA40” probe converter.
The measured value is displayed in ampere. Conversion as in conventional adapters is not required.
Remove the transport protection plugs before connecting the measuring lines. They prevent squeezing
of the isolation sleeve at the plugs during storage and transport.
Proceed as follows to measure direct currents up to max. 40 A:
- Switch on the DMM and select measuring range “ A ”.
- Insert the red measuring line into the A measuring jack (6). Plug the black measuring line into the
COM measuring jack (8).
- Switch on the power unit with the operating switch (21). The adapter is switched on when the switch
is in the “ON” position. “OFF” switches the adapter off.
- Set the display to zero before each DC measurement. For this, turn the rotary control (24) with the
probe closed until the display is nearly at zero (<0.050 A). The current probe is very sensitive through
the integrated Hall sensor and should be re-balanced after each opening.
It is possible that outer influences will prevent the exact zero position from being set (e.g.
0.063 A etc.). In this case, the offset error will be linear throughout the measuring range and
can be subtracted from the measured value. This will not impair the measurement.
- For opening the current probe sensor, press the probe lever (20) and clamp the measuring adapter
over the lines to be measured in the correct polarity. The current flow direction must correspond to
the polarity indication (+ or -) at the current probe. When enclosing a current conductor, ensure that
the probe sensor is closed properly. Otherwise, measuring errors may occur.
- The measured value is indicated on the display
- There are various methods to take measurements with the probe converter. Connect the device as
displayed.
