Heat pump cascade
If you are using a heat pump cascade, carry out the
settings for heating and DHW on the lead heat pump.

Alternatively, the QR code is located on the type
plate.
The QR code with designation "i" contains the
access data for the registration and product informa-
tion portal.
Using this QR code, the 16-digit serial number,
for example, can be read out.
Heating system
The heat pump can heat or cool your rooms via the
heating system, and heat your domestic hot water.
Your heating contractor will have installed the system
components required for your building according to
which of these functions you will be using.
Depending on your heat pump type, up to two heating/
cooling circuits may be directly connected to the indoor
unit for room heating and/or room cooling.
If your system has a separate buffer cylinder, your
heating/cooling circuits will be connected to this cylin-
der and will be heated and cooled through it. In such a
system configuration, up to 4 heating/cooling circuits
may be connected.
The heat pump supplies direct heat/cooling only to the
buffer cylinder. Due to the large volume of the buffer
cylinder, your heat pump will run less frequently, but
the runtimes will be longer. This offers greater effi-
ciency and protects your heat pump.
Note
In systems with a separate buffer cylinder, it is not
possible to heat one heating/cooling circuit for room
heating while simultaneously cooling another heating/
cooling circuit for room cooling.
The draw-off points for domestic hot water (DHW) in
the house are supplied via a DHW cylinder. On the
Vitocal 252-A this DHW cylinder is integrated into the
indoor unit. With the Vitocal 250-A, your heating con-
tractor will have installed a separate DHW cylinder and
connected it to the indoor unit.
Permissible ambient temperatures in the installation room

The appliance may develop faults if it is oper-
ated outside the specified temperature ranges.
Ensure that the specified temperature range is
maintained in the installation room.
To prevent malfunctions, ensure the ambient tempera-
ture is between 0 °C and +35 °C.
Outside temperature limits
Air/water heat pumps utilise outdoor air as the heat
source. Operation is only efficient within specified out-
door temperature limits:
Room heating
-20 to 40 °C
Room cooling
10 to 45 °C
