het opladen als gevolg van overmatige gasvorming in de cellen of accu's
met de hoogste beginlaadtoestand.
Een tijdig alarm kan worden afgegeven door bewaking van het
middelpunt van de accubank (d.w.z. door de seriespanning in tweeën te
delen en de twee seriespanningshelften met elkaar te vergelijken).
Opmerking: De middelpuntafwijking is klein als de accubank zich in de
ruststand bevindt en zal toenemen:
a) aan het einde van de bulkladingsfase tijdens het opladen (de
spanning van goed opgeladen cellen zal snel toenemen terwijl slecht
onderhouden cellen meer oplading behoeven),
b) als de accubank wordt ontladen tot de spanning van de zwakste
cellen snel afneemt, en
c) met hoge oplaad- en ontlaadsnelheden.
5.2.1 Hoe het percentage van de middelpunt wordt berekend
d (%) = 100*(Vt – Vb) / V
waarbij:

Vt is de hoogste seriespanning
Vb is de laagste seriespanning
V is de spanning van de accu (V = Vt + Vb)
5.2.2 Instellen van het alarmniveau:
In geval van VRLA- (gel- of AGM-) accu's kan gasvorming als gevolg van
overlading het elektrolyt uitdrogen, waardoor de interne weerstand
toeneemt en de accu uiteindelijk onherstelbaar beschadigd raakt. Vlakke-
plaat-VRLA-accu's gaan water verliezen als de laadspanning 15V (12V-
accu) nadert.
Rekening houdend met een veiligheidsmarge dient tijdens het opladen de
middelpuntafwijking daarom onder 2% te blijven.
Als bijvoorbeeld een 24V-accubank wordt opgeladen met een
absorptiespanning van 28,8V, dan resulteert een middelpuntafwijking van
2% in:
Vt = V*d/100* + Vb = V*d/100 + V – Vt
Daarom:
Vt = (V*(1+d/100) / 2 = 28,8*1,02 / 2 ≈ 14,7V
En:
Vb = (V*(1-d/100) / 2 = 28,8*0,98 / 2 ≈ 14,1V
Een middelpuntafwijking van meer dan 2% resulteert dus klaarblijkelijk in
overlading van de bovenste accu en onderlading van de onderste accu.
