3 VIAMICHELIN NAVIGATION ON YOUR PC
3.1- MapStore
MapStore is a map viewer program which runs on your PC and allows you to choose, cut and edit
maps according to your personal needs. The MapStore options enable you to select several map
areas, specifying the level of detail you want for each one.
The MapStore program can be opened from either the symbol which appears on your computer
Desktop, or by clicking “Start / Programs / ViaMichelin / MapStore”.
Preparing maps to be exported from MapStore onto your PDA
MapStore makes it possible to cut and edit a map from the maps installed on your PC, and then
transfer the map onto your PDA, so you can use them in ViaMichelin Navigation. You can choose
several cutting areas at a time, and specify the level of detail you want for each cutting area.
Exporting directly onto your PDA or onto an SD/MMC card
Click “PDA” to transfer your maps onto the PDA, whether you want to save them in the PDA hard
memory or on the SD memory card. Give a name to your map, and then click “OK”.
MapStore will then generate the map (this can vary in time, depending on the size of the map).
Check that your PDA is connected to your PC and follow the instructions on the screen to export your
map.
Display option in MapStore
Display driving directions: once your route has been calculated, you can display stepby-step
directions (in text format) to follow to the destination point.
Navigation: clicking on this button allows you to activate the navigation mode or the naviga-
tion demo mode once your route has been calculated or planned. The demo mode lets you
simulate your route without having to connect to your GPS receiver.
Search for a POI:
The “Search for a POI” option allows you to search for a Point of Interest within all the Points
of Interest categories included in your software. ViaMichelin Navigation contains several
thousand Points of Interest, classified in categories such as airports, post offices, car parks, shopping
centres, hospitals…all useful addresses when you are travelling.
To search for a particular POI, follow the instructions listed in chapter 2.1.

the map. You can access several functions by clicking on this button

your departure point or your destination/arrival point.

the route plan.
In the “General” section, you can change the application interface language (6 languages avai-
lable) for ViaMichelin Navigation: just click on Language. In this section, you can also specify
