10.3 Wheel assembly and function of the drum brake
10.3.1 Removing/attaching the drive wheel
1. To install a wheel on a quick-release axle (see Figure 27), set the wheel lock to the free-
wheel position*.
2. Tip the wheelchair with one hand on the arm support.
3. Hold the wheel by the wheel lock lever and press the quick-release button (see Figure 28,
item 1).
4. Push the axle (see Figure 28, item 2) into the guide (see Figure 28, item 3) until the wheel is
fully inserted into the chassis.
5. Let go of the button. The button jumps out and the axle engages in the guide.
6. After installing a wheel with quick-release axle, check whether the axle is engaged in the
guide. You can do this by taking hold of a mounted wheel by the spokes of the wheel hub
and trying to move it horizontally. If this is not possible, the axle is locked.
*Freewheel = wheel lock not active
