Voir
le certificat de garantie ci-joint.
GB INSTRUCTIONS FOR VEX-100 / VEX-200 / VEX-300 POND FILTER
GENERAL
Clear water is the basis for the biological equilibrium in garden ponds. The most important factor in
a pond's ecosystem is the water, as its composition has a direct impact on the growth of the aquatic
plants, the development of micro-organisms and the condition of the fish. The water therefore
needs to contain all the elements necessary for the biological and chemical processes in the envi-
ronment. When all the values are right and the microlife is functioning well, there is a biological
equilibrium. A filter installation is the solution for many ponds because often too many fish are kept
in proportion to the amount of water in the pond. It's a simple fact that in a garden pond a fish has
far less water to swim around in than it has in the natural environment, and the natural equilibrium
is also rapidly eroded by the many wastes produced by the fish. This is certainly the case with lar-
ger fish like koi. Filtering keeps the water clear and, by circulating the water, also ensures there is
sufficient oxygen. The VEX filters filter both mechanically and biologically. A brief description of
these two methods is given below.
Mechanical filtration
The mechanical filter operates by removing organic and inorganic particles of dirt. To prevent the
filter material clogging up, it should be regularly rinsed clean.
Biological filtration
A biological filter is based on the principle of a better and swifter degradation of organic matter
through the use of micro-organisms. A fully activated biological filter encourages general micro-
