USER INSTRUCTIONS PROFESSIONAL AQUA TEST
GENERAL
With the help of the Velda PO4 Test the phosphate content of fresh and salt water can be deter-
mined quickly and quite accurately. Both for garden ponds and for aquaria it is important to have an
insight into the phosphate content of the water. Just like different plants, water plants also need,
besides nitrogen and trace elements, phosphates to grow. In certain cases, however, the phos-
phate content may rise to such an extent, that the plants present are not able to fully absorb this
phosphate nutrition. The surplus of phosphate will result in algal growth. Ideal situation would be
that the phosphate content will fluctuate between 0.3 and 0.5 mg/l. At a phosphate content from
2.0 mg/l algal growth will not fail to occur and measures will have to be taken. Refresh part of the
water and add more water plants.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
Rinse the graduated beakers well and fill them with 5 ml of water to be tested. To one graduated
beaker add while shaking slightly 5 drops of PO4 test liquid no. 1, followed by 5 drops of PO4 test
liquid no. 2 and finally 1 spatula of reacting powder no. 3. Now close the graduated beaker with the
cap and shake well. Take the cap off the graduated beaker. Shift the colour chart in the comparator
and place the graduated beakers in the holes that are destined for them. Place the beaker contain-
ing the test liquid in the innermost opening of the comparator. Now wait for 4 minutes. Then turn the
colour chart until both beakers are showing the same colour when looking from above. The similar
colour indicates the phosphate content in mg/l. After use rinse the graduated beakers well.
Test the colour by daylight, however, not right in the sun. This test practically has an
unlimited shelf life, provided that it is kept cool and dark. Keep away form children.
GENERAL
With the help of the Velda Fe Test the iron content of both fresh water and salt can be
determined quickly and quite accurately. Both for garden ponds and for aquaria it is important to
have an insight into the iron content of the water. For optimum growth and proper development of
leaves, water plants need iron. As iron in pond and aquarium water is not stable and will be quickly
absorbed by growing plants, regular inspection is desirable. An average iron content of 0.6 to 1 mg/l
will do to avoid iron chlorosis and yellow leaves and to take care that the plants will grow optimally.
Use Ferro Plus of Velda to increase the iron content and consequently to stimulate plant growth.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
Rinse the graduated beakers well and fill them with 5 ml of water to be tested. To one graduated
beaker add while shaking slightly 5 drops of Fe test liquid no. 1, followed by 5 drops of Fe test liquid
no. 2 and finally 5 drops of Fe test liquid no. 3. Now close the graduated beaker with the cap and
shake well. Take the cap off the graduated beaker. Shift the colour chart in the comparator and
place the graduated beakers in the holes that are destined for them. Place the beaker containing
the test liquid in the innermost opening of the comparator. Now turn the colour chart until both bea-
kers are showing the same colour when looking from above. The similar colour indicates the iron
content in mg/l. After use rinse the graduated beakers well.
Low oxygen spring and subsoil water may contain high levels of iron. Such water is not naturally
suitable as aquarium or pond water. By aerating it for a prolonged period of time the iron content will
be reduced. This test practically has an unlimited shelf life, provided that it is kept cool and dark.
Keep away form children.
