The vehic le is unlocked by pulling a door

handle or by opera ting the button beneath

the tailgate handle and the anti-theft

alarm system is deactivated when the

electronic key is recognized as being

outs ide of th e ve hic le .

– or –

Press button q of the electronic key’s

re mote cont ro l.

In the event of a fault in the remote control

or the Op en&Start sy stem, open the vehicle

as described on page 40.

If the alarm is triggered when the driver’s

door is opened, deactivate the anti-theft

alarm system by switching on the ignition.

Note

Changes to the vehicle interior, such as the

use of seat covers, could impair the

function of passenger compartment

monitoring.

Al arm

While the anti-theft alarm system is

switched on the alarm can be triggered,

indicated by:

z an acoustic signal (horn) and

z a visual signal (hazard warning lights).

The number and duration of the alarms are

legally established.

The alarm can be silenced b y pressing a

button on the remote control or by

switching on the ignition. The anti-theft

alarm system is deactivated at the same

time.

Alarm siren

w ith integrated batt ery 3

The alarm siren monitors the on-board

voltage network and triggers an alarm if

this network is manipulated (e.g. if the

vehicle’s battery is disconnected by

unauthorised persons). The alarm siren has

its own power supply and is therefore not

dependent on the vehicle’s battery.

If the vehicle’s battery is to be

disconnected (e.g. for maintenance work),

the alarm siren must be deactivated as

follows: switch the ignition on then off,

disconnect the vehicle’s battery within

15 se conds.

To switch off alarm siren:

Switch ignition on then off.
