In Germany, according § 19, Section 3, No. 4, StVZO together
with the parts assessment (page 11 - 14), the installation
must be inspected by an approved expert assessor (TÜV,
Dekra). The proof, with confirmation of approval of this modifi-
cation is to be carried in the vehicle. This requirement shall no
longer apply if the vehicle documents have been amended.
When installing the Mover always observe the technical and
administrative rules and regulations of the country in which the
vehicle is to be registered for the first time.
Any modification to the unit, or the use of spare parts and
functionally-important accessories which are not original
Carver components, or failure to respect the installation and
operating instructions, will lead to the cancellation of the guar-
antee and to exclusion of claims for liability. in addition to this,
the operational approval for the device will be cancelled.
Tools and facilities required
To install the unit you will need:
13 mm AF socket / wrench 13 mm AF combination spanner
Torque wrench (automotive size)
Cable cutter/Crimping tool
Power drill / screwdrivers / 25 mm hole cutter
Portable 2 tonne trolley jack and axle stands to suit
Appropriate lighting
Choice of location
We recommend to fit the Mover behind the rear axle. Under
special circumstances (for example lack of space) the Mover
can also be fitted in front of the front axle. To install the Mover
only the original Carver fitting parts may be used.
Ensure the chassis is in a sound condition, free of rust, debris,
oil and grease and without any damages to the suspension
components.
The caravan must be fitted with the same size and type of tyre
on each wheel; to ensure the wheel diameter is identical, we
recommend to install and set up the mover only with new
tyres, these are to be inflated to manufacturer’s specifications.
The Caravan Mover weighs approximately 30 kg, the Eu-
ro Mover weighs approximately 32 kg. Ensure the pay load
allowance of the caravan can accommodate this.
Installation of the drive units
1. Fig. A: Remove from packaging all components onto floor.
2. Loosely assemble all parts together to form a cross-tube as-
sembly; do not tighten the nuts beyond finger tight.
3. Fig. B: Loosely assemble the clamp brackets to the chassis
and tube and position the assemble with each drive roller to
face the road tyre. Ensure the chainguard and back plate is
clear of the tyre shoulder and shock absorber by moving the
motor gearbox assembly inwards or outwards in relation to the
chassis until sufficient clearance is obtained from the gas strut
to prevent fouling.
4. Use the provided spacer to position the correct distance be-
tween the drive rollers and tyre (20 mm), respectively, by slid-
ing each side along the chassis to obtain adjustment. The slid-
ing centre tube will allow the width to change to suit the cara-
van’s chassis. Make sure there is sufficient clearance between
motor housing and floor.
When the rollers are engaged with the tyre, the mini-
mum dimension for „a“ and „b“ is 10 mm (see fig. C).
To ensure the correct height, particularly when installing be-
hind the axle, a massive steel block can be laid between chas-
sis and the Mover. For correct installation in this case longer
„U“ bolts (special equipment) must be used.
