■ Gebruik van een baby- en kinderzitje
Het gebruik van een baby- of kinderzitje dat niet geschikt is voor deze auto
vormt geen goede bescherming voor het kind. Het kind kan dan (bij plotse-
ling remmen of bij een aanrijding) ernstig letsel oplopen.
■ Voorzorgsmaatregelen bij baby- en kinderzitjes
● De meest effectieve bescherming van een kind tijdens een ongeval of bij
hard remmen, is het gebruik van een baby- of kinderzitje dat is afgestemd
op de grootte en het gewicht van het kind. Het vasthouden van een kind in
de armen is geen vervanging voor een baby- of kinderzitje. Bij een onge-
val kan een kind dan de voorruit raken of (als u geen veiligheidsgordel om
hebt) klem komen te zitten tussen u en het dashboard.
● Toyota adviseert met klem gebruik te maken van een geschikt zitje dat
past bij de lengte van het kind en dat achterin geplaatst is. In ongevallen-
statistieken is aangetoond dat kinderen minder verwondingen oplopen als
zij achterin zitten.
● Gebruik geen baby- of kinderzitje waarbij het kind achteruit kijkt op de
voorstoel.
Bij een ongeval kan het kind dan ernstig letsel oplopen door de kracht
waarmee de passagiersairbag wordt opgeblazen.
● Plaats een in de rijrichting geplaatst baby- of kinderzitje alleen op de voor-
stoel als het niet anders kan. Zet de rugleuning zo ver mogelijk omhoog en
naar achteren, omdat de voorpassagiersairbag met aanzienlijke snelheid
en kracht wordt geactiveerd. Hierdoor kan ernstig letsel ontstaan.
