ADVICE
Water/glycol mixture must not enter the environment, and must be disposed of
separately.
Water cooling for overall system
In order to prevent frost damage and corrosion, for long-term storage no sea water
may remain in the components or hoses of any potential coolant circuits.
The electric cooling water pumps for all components except outboard motors are
activated if necessary via the system display, via Settings | Cooling Policy; see
Chapter 6.2.7, "Settings". Briefly set the parameter to Immediate. This manually
switches on all cooling pumps.
If there is no water in the system, restrict the running time to five minutes. If possi-
ble, disconnect unaffected pumps from the electrical supply.
Flushing and draining the outboard motor
ADVICE
The following process must be carried out individually for each outboard motor.
1. Remove the propeller; see , Chapter 8.4, "Replacing the propeller".
2. Install a commercially available outboard flushing connection.
3. Connect a hose that fits.
4. Prepare a large container with a water/glycol mixture (mix ratio: 1:1).
5. Dip the hose into the container to suction the mixture.
6. Let the motor run at a low rotational speed for 5-10 minutes.
ADVICE
Never allow the motor to run dry.
7. Recover the water/glycol mixture being expelled.
ADVICE
The mixture collected can be used again for this type of flushing process in
other coolant circuits.
Flushing and draining the coolant circuit
ADVICE
The following process must be carried out individually for each coolant circuit.
1. Close the onboard intakes of all sea water coolant circuits.
2. Prepare approx. 10 to 20 litres of water/glycol mixture (mix ratio: 1:1) in a con-
tainer.
3. Loosen the cooling water intake inside on the onboard intake.
4. Activate the cooling water pump in order to pump remaining sea water out of
the system.
5. Position the collecting container under the cooling water outlet.
6. Pump the water/glycol mixture through the system via the cooling water intake,
and collect it at the outlet.
ADVICE
The mixture collected can be used again for this type of flushing process in
other coolant circuits.
7. Allow the pump to run until no more liquid is discharged.
8. After the work is complete, use the system display to set Cooling Policy to Late,
see Chapter 6.2.7, "Settings".
This prevents the pump from running dry too long and becoming damaged.
