The OGM is distorted.

Does the tape need replacing?

The answering machine does not respond to the security code

from a remote telephone.

Make sure you are using the correct code, see Section Security

Code.

The phone you are using may not be emitting a continuous tone.

Try another tone dialling phone.

Confirm the phone you are using is switched to tone, not pulse

mode.

The unit does not stop (when the cassette compartment is

empty).

Open the cassette compartment lid and hold the right tape reel

for about 20 seconds until the unit stops. Insert the cassette tape

after the unit stopped. Pull out the power jack and plug it back in

after 5 seconds.

The answering machine does not work when any button is

pressed.

Unplug the AC adaptor and plug it in again.

The answering machine does not record any messages.

The cassette tape is broken (cut, worn out, twisted). Replace it

with a new one.

The machine is answering on the wrong number of rings to

turn on remotely .

The number of extension phones on your phone line weakens the

signal received by the answering machine. This may cause your

unit to take longer to answer.

Check to see if the handset coiled cord is loose.

Try a different telephone in the wall jack. If you still get static, the

problem is in the line. Call the telephone company.

Note: If no telephone in the house/office is working, disconnect one set at a time

to verify that none of them are causing the problem. If you still have a problem after

testing each phone, contact your telephone company for assistance.

The answering machine does not answer calls.

Is the telephone line connected properly?

Is the unit set to Answer ON mode?

Is the power cord connected?

Have you recorded an OGM?

The answering machine does not record messages.

Is the microcassette inserted properly or is the tape broken?

You cannot hear the caller when screening a call or you cannot

hear the OGM when the unit answers a call.

Is the volume control set properly?

When the OGM and ICMs are played back, the sound level is

low even when the volume control is set to maximum.
