port W 502V ist ein solcher multifunktionaler Zugangs-
punkt.
Ad-hoc-Modus
Sie können mehrere Computer auch drahtlos ohne
Zugangspunkt miteinander verbinden. Diese Kommunika-
tionsform bezeichnet man als Ad-hoc-Netzwerk.
Standards
Der Speedport W 101 Stick arbeitet nach dem Übertra-
gungsstandard IEEE 802.11g (bis zu 54 MBit/s) und ist
abwärtskompatibel mit dem Vorgängerstandard
IEEE 802.11b (bis zu 11 MBit/s).
Sicherheitsfunktionen
Jedes Drahtlosnetzwerk muss gegen unberechtigten
Zugriff von außen geschützt werden. Der Speedport
W 101 Stick unterstützt die Verwendung von Sicherheits-
verfahren, mit denen Sie Fremdzugriffe ins Drahtlosnetz-
werk zuverlässig ausschließen können.
WPA
Das Verschlüsselungsverfahren WPA (Wi-Fi Protected
Access) ist der aktuelle Standard für Verschlüsselung in
Drahtlosnetzwerken. Mit WPA werden alle Daten vor der
Übertragung verschlüsselt. Zugang zum Drahtlosnetzwerk
erhält nur, wer den eingestellten Schlüssel kennt. Die
WPA-Verschlüsselung ist für höchste Sicherheitsansprü-
che besonders zu empfehlen.
