SYSTEM SETTINGS - NETWORK CATEGORY
Why connect your player to a network?:
It is only necessary to connect your player to a network if
you plan to use the BD Live feature or if you want to check
on-line for updates for your player.
Network warning messages:
If your player is not connected to a network, you will see
warning messages such as -
Why change network settings?:
If you have connected your player to your Home Network
and discs featuring BD Live are retrieving content from the
Internet, then there is no reason to change any network
settings from the factory default. In fact, it is highly likely
that changing any network settings will stop the network
connection from working.
Testing your network connection:
If you think there may be a problem with your network
connection -
Navigate to the Network category of the Settings •
Menu.
A window will open which will display the current status of
your network.
If the player is not connecting to the Internet:
If the tests in the previous section prove that your player
is not connected to the Internet, then it is possible
that your network has been congured for a manual IP
address. If so, these settings must be entered into your
player manually as described in the next section before it
can join your network.
If the ‘Link Status’ line reads ‘Link Up, then the Network is
connected correctly.
You can further check the network connection.
From the Network Status screen above -
NOTE: Settings shown are examples only.
Link status
Press the • P button.
Scroll to the ‘Network Test’ option.•
Press the • ENTER button.
If the line Connection to Internet’ reads ‘...
successfully established’ then your Internet
connection is working correctly.
If you are not planning to connect your player to a
network, this message can be ignored.
