7 Answering Machine
Operating via the handset
The answering machine is equipped with a vocal operator
guidance. Pay attention to the instructions and information.
Opening the Ans. Settings menu
The answering machine settings are defined via the handset Page 106.
Switching the answering machine on/off
The answering machine can be switched on and off via the handset
Page 106.
Language
The answering machine’s vocal output is English and cannot be changed.
Setting the date and time
The weekday and time of receipt are announced when each message is
played back. Setting the date and time Page 108.
Maximum recording time
The answering machine can store up to 59 messages. The maximum re-
cording time is 15 minutes. The length of the messages recorded can be
adjusted Page 106. When the memory capacity for new messages is
exhausted, no further messages are recorded.
Ringing delay for taking a call
You can select from 2 to 8 rings. In addition, the Time saver" setting is
also available for pre−remote access free of charge. The pre−remote
access feature can be used to check whether new messages have been
received on your answering machine from a distant telephone.
If new message have been recorded on your answering machine,
your call is taken after 2 rings at the latest.
If no new messages have been recorded on your answering machine,
your call is taken after 4 rings. End the call before the 4th ring. This
means that no charges ensue.

Taking a call being recorded
It is possible to take a call even if the answering machine has already
begun to take it. Recording of the message is stopped in this case.

Selecting the answering mode
The answering machine is provided with two, pre−recorded outgoing
messages (OGM). After the Ans & Rec" outgoing message has been
played, the caller can leave a message. Answer only" is purely an answer
only announcement after which no message can be left.
Both pre−recorded outgoing messages can be replaced by ones of your
own. When the answering machine’s memory is full, Answer only" is auto-
matically played. Further information Page 106.
Recording/Deleting outgoing messages
Recording outgoing messages
Before recording an outgoing message, select the answering mode (Ans &
Rec/Answer only) for which you want to record a message. An outgoing
message can be up to 60 seconds long.
Deleting your own outgoing message, reverting to the pre−recorded
message
After deleting your own outgoing message, the pre−recorded message is
automatically reactivated. Further information Page 106.
