Restoringa System Backup
Use the YaST System Restorationmodule to restore the system configurationfrom
a backup. Restore the entire backup or select specific componentsthat were corrupted
and need to be resetto their old state.
1 Start YaST > System> SystemRestoration.
2 Enterthe locationof the backup file. This couldbe a local file, a network
mountedfile, or a file on a removabledevice,such as a floppy or a DVD. Then
click Next.
The following dialog displays a summaryof the archive properties,such as
the filename,date of creation,type of backup, and optional comments.
3 Reviewthe archivedcontentby clickingArchiveContent. ClickingOK returns
you to the Archive Propertiesdialog.
4 ExpertOptionsopensa dialog in whichto fine-tunethe restore process.Return
to the Archive Propertiesdialog by clicking OK.
5 ClickNextto open the viewof packagesto restore. PressAcceptto restore
all files in the archive or use the various SelectAll, DeselectAll, and Select
Files buttons to fine-tuneyour selection.Only use the Restore RPM Database
option if the RPM databaseis corruptedor deletedand this file is included in
the backup.
6 Afteryou clickAccept, thebackup is restored.ClickFinishto leavethemodule
after the restore processis completed.

Accessthe installedsystemin a “changeroot” environment.
Check,modify, and reinstallthe boot loaderconfiguration.
