2. Installation instructions for the professional
2.1 Provisions and regulations
This unit are not suitable for rooms
which are subjects to a fi re or explo-
sion risk caused by chemicals, dust, gases
or vapours. In workshops or other areas in
which the odour of waste gases, oil, petrol,
etc. might occur, or in which work is carried
out involving solvents and chemicals, there
is a risk of sustained odour burdens being
engendered, and possibly of dirt contamina-
tion occurring.
See 1.3 Safety instructions!
The unit may only be fitted on a vertical
wall which is temperature resistant to at
least 80 °C.
The minimum distances from adjacent ob-
jects must be observed.
All electrical connection and installation work
is to be carried out in accordance with
the I.E.E Regulations, the provisions of the
appropriate electricity supply companies, and
the relevant national and regional provisions.
The unit must not be fitted nor positioned
directly beneath an electrical wall socket.
The appliance should be installed such that
the plug is still accessible.
The unit rating plate is to be noted. The stated
voltage must correspond to the mains voltage
If the mains connection cable is changed,
this may only be replaced with original Stiebel
Eltron spare parts by a qualified installer.

automatically switches on the heating if the
room temperature falls to approximately 7 °C.
In the case of the CS 20 (L), the fan can be
switched on in all settings using the third
switch (3).
To take the unit out of operation, all switches
must be switched to the OFF position and
the power supply plug must be pulled out of
the wall socket / be completely disconnected
(plugs must not be pulled with the cabel out
of the socket socket! use the plug itself).
1.3 Safety instructions
The appliance must not:
Be operated in areas which are subject
to the risk of fi re or explosion due to
chemicals, dust, gases or vapours;
Be operated in the immediate vicinity of
pipes or containers which carry or con-
tain combustible or potentially explosive
substances;
Be operated, at less as the minimum
clearance distances advised.
Under no circumstances must the unit be
operated if work such as the laying, sanding,
sealing, cleaning with petrol, and mainte-
nance (spraying, waxing) of floors and the
like is being carried out in the room where
the unit is installed.
During operation the surface of the heater
and the outcoming air will be hot (more
than 80 °C). Danger of burning !
Keep children away from heater!
No objects of any kind must be placed on
the unit, leaned against it, or put between
the heating unit and the wall (for example
to dry the washing).
In addition, no combustible, flammable, or
heat insulating objects or materials such
as washing, blankets, magazines, containers
holding floor wax or petrol, spray cans and
the like, should be placed in the immediate
vicinity of the unit. Danger of fi re!
In order to avoid overheating, the heater
must not be covered.

For objects of all kinds, such as for
example furniture, drapes, curtains and tex-
tiles or other flammable or non-flammable
materials, the following minimum distances
from the unit, particularly from the air out-
let grille, must be observed:
In front of the air outlet grille 500 mm
Above the air outlet grille

The hot air must be able to exit freely!
No articles must fall, hang, lay or stick into
any opening of the appliance (e.g. necklaces
a.s.o.). This can lead to deadly current draws
and/or fires.
Do not use the appliance as a stool!
2.2 Unit installation
2.2.1 Fitting the feet

The feet (7), including securing screws, are
supplied with the unit as standard.
Insert the feet with the guide pins - of variable
thickness - into the side sections at the bot-
tom, and screw tightly. When doing this, note
that in the case of the left-hand foot (7a), the
mains connection cable is fed through the
channel in the foot.
2.2.2 Wall mounting

(only possible without the feet fitted)
The following action should be taken to secure
the unit:
Fix the hanging brackets (8) vertically to the
wall. Use suitable securing materials (screws,
dowels etc.), dependant on the type of wall.
Observe the minimum distance from the
oor!
hang the unit onto the hanging brackets
using the vertical recesses in the rear panel
of the unit;
using a screwdriver, turn the retaining clips
(at the top of the hanging bracket) clock-
wise into the unit - the unit is then secured
against unintentional removal.
2.3 Electrical connection
Electrical connection can only be made to an
a.c. 230V ~ 50 Hz supply.
For the purpose of connection, an earthed
socket or unit connection box for permanent
connection should be installed at the side of
the heating unit, at least 10 cm away from it.
2.4 Handover
Explain the functions of the unit to the user.
Draw his or her attention to the safety in-
structions, in particular. Hand the operating
and installation instructions to the user.
No changes at the equipment must be made.
Never leave the alliance when in use unsu-
pervised. Remote switches or automatic en-
gaged equipment or upstream components
are not allowed with this appliance. (e.g.
ambient temperature automatic controller)
is not permitted.
Special caution is required, if the appliance
is used in the presence of children, invalid
persons or animals. Danger of injury!
If a part of the appliance is damaged or has
fallen down or it was already defect/malfan-
ctioning, it may no be taken in to operation.
1.4 Care and maintenance
Before cleaning or maintenance the power
supply plugs of the appliance must pulled out
of the socket and it must cool down fi rst!
If slight brownish discolouration should appear
on the unit housing, this should be rubbed off
as soon as possible with a damp cloth.
The unit should be cleaned in the cold condi-
tion, using customary cleaning agents.
Abrasive or corrosive cleaning agents should
be avoided.
Humidity may not penetrate into the equip-
ment.
Do not spray any cleaning sprays into the air
slots.
The appliacne must be well dried before it is
taken in operation!
The appliance should be kept free of dust and
vibrations and must be kept well protected.

The installation, electrical connection
and fi rst operation of this appliance
should be carried out by a qualifi ed installer.

failure of any goods supplied which accor-
dance with the manufacturer‘s instructions.
Recycling of obselete appliances
Appliances with this label must not be
disposed off with the general waste.
They must be collected separately and
disposed off according to local regulations.
