21. Windvector en laylines
Een GPS navigatieprogramma voor zeilers en andere watersporters kan natuurlijk niet
zonder een windvector. Het eerste wat u immers doet voordat u gaat varen is kijken waar de
wind vandaan komt en hoe hard het waait. Als u op de kaart ziet waar de wind vandaan komt
kunt u hier beter rekening mee houden met bijv. het uitzetten van een route of het zoeken
van een beschutte ankerplaats
.
De windvector rond de GPS cursor kunt u aanzetten door de windknop in te drukken.
Getekend wordt de ware wind, welke net als uw SOG, t.o.v. de grond gedefinieerd is. In
tegenstelling tot stroming wordt de wind altijd genoemd naar waar hij vandaan komt. De
blauwe pijl staat daarom naar de GPS cursor toe.
De vector is in te stellen door opgave van de windsnelheid en richting via de knop Wind
onderaan in het Navigatie-info schermpje (zie figuur) hierboven. Ook kunt u door slepen met
de muiscursor de windvector van grootte en richting veranderen. In het rood wordt,
afhankelijk van de instellingen bij Beeld/Eigenschappen/Algemeen/GPS-cursor het
windvaantje of de schijnbare windvector getekend.
Tip! I.p.v. handmatig instellen kunt u de absolute windvector ook koppelen aan de
voorspelde wind van Grib-files. Dit gaat ook via de Wind onder Navigatie info. Dit kan alleen
als de absolute wind is geselecteerd met het knopje abs (blauwe ware wind waarden). Zie
figuur boven.
