Installation (Fig. 1.4 – 1.8)
The site of installation should be at least 50 cm
away from another light because heat radiated
from it may activate the system. At minimum
reach (5 m), the light should be installed at a
height of no more than 1.8 m. To obtain the
specified reach of 12 m, the sensor should be
installed at a height of no more than 2.2 m.
Connecting the mains and load supply lead
(1.9)
The leads consist of three wires:
L = phase conductor (usually black or brown)
N = neutral conductor (usually blue)
PE = protective-earth conductor (green/yellow)
K = communication cable (optional)
If you are in any doubt, identify the conductors
using a voltage tester; then disconnect from the
power supply again. Connect phase (L), neutral
conductor (N) to the terminal block. Mixing up
the connections will produce a short circuit later
on in the product or your fuse box. In this case,
you must identify the individual cables and
re-connect them. Insulate protective-earth con-
ductor (PE) and simply place it next to terminal
block.
Note: A mains switch for switching ON and OFF
may, of course, be installed in the mains supply
lead. A mains switch is required for the manual
override function (Fig. 2.1, see Manual override
function)
Group interconnection (Fig. 1.9)
Communication cable K permits internal
STEINEL group interconnection of L 900 LED
and L 910 LED. For this, the cover tab (F) in the
terminal compartment must be broken out at
the point marked (K). As many as 10 lights
can be interconnected with each other. The
communication cable must not be longer
than 50 m.
Note:
- No voltage must be connected to the com-
munication cable. No external loads must be
connected!
- Within the interconnected group, all lights
operate in line with their specific DIP-switch
settings.
- Group interconnection is not possible in test
mode.
Functions (Fig. 1.7)
Once installed, the sensor can be put into
operation. All pre-programmed functions are
selected at DIP switches 1-6. Factory setting:
DIP switches OFF
DIP 1 effect lighting
OFF = Sensor mode, main light/soft start
ON = effect lighting as from light-level setting
selected, main light activated by sensor
DIP 2 night economy mode, effect lighting
OFF = effect lighting ON all night
ON = effect lighting ON for half the night in
relation to setting selected at DIP 1
DIP 3 twilight setting (response threshold)
OFF = 20 lux
ON = 2 lux
DIP 4 time setting (switch-OFF delay)
OFF = 2 min
ON = 15 min
DIP 5 test mode
OFF = test mode deactivated
ON = test mode activated (5 sec)
Note:
Communication (optional group interconnec-
tion) to the interconnected lights is deactivated
in test mode. Only the light being tested is in
test mode. The other lights remain in group
mode
DIP 6 Reach setting (sensitivity)
OFF = 12 m
ON = 5 m
Manual override function (Fig. 2.1)
If a mains switch is installed in the mains sup-
ply lead, the following functions are provided
in addition to simply switching light ON and
OFF:
Manual override
1) Activate manual override:
Turn switch OFF and ON twice. The light is set
to manual override for 4 hours. Then it returns
automatically to sensor mode.
2) Deactivate manual override:
Switch OFF and ON once. Light goes out or
switches to sensor mode.
Important:
The switch should be actuated in rapid
succession (in the 0.2–1 sec. range).
Note:
When groups are interconnected, this
command is sent to all of the lights that
are connected.
