what is midi
MIDI is a common abbreviation of Musical Instrument Digital Interface. It is a standard interface for
communication between a computer and digital musical instruments.
There are two MIDI standard interfaces in the piano, MIDI IN & MIDI OUT ports.
midi connection
MIDI connection applies to the « master », which in turn controls the «slave»
The master unit’s MIDI OUT connects with the slave unit’s MIDI IN. Note that MIDI OUT cannot be
connected to the MIDI IN on the same piece of equipment.

major applications
• With the piano as the master:
Connect the MIDI OUT port of the piano with the MIDI IN port of outer equipment.
If the same MIDI channels are set to both units, play the keyboard & change the parameters on the
piano. This will allow the outer equipment unit to receive the data from it.
For details on MIDI messages that can be sent from the piano, see « Appendix 6: MIDI IMPLEMENTA-
TION CHART ».
• With the piano as the slave:
Connect the MIDI IN port of the piano with the MIDI OUT port of outer equipment.
If the same MIDI channels are set to both units, play the keyboard & change the parameters on the
outer equipment. This will allow the piano to receive data from it. The piano can be played at the same
time.
For details on the MIDI messages that can be received by the piano, see « Appendix 6: MIDI IMPLE-
MENTATION CHART ».
• To connect the MIDI interface with your computer and use sequencer software:
