IMPORTANT INFORMATION
As per the German Equipment and Product Safety Act (GPSG) and our statutory duty to notify, we would like to inform you about heating with this product.
As per our statutory duty to notify, we would like to inform you about heating with this product: The Bio chimney combustion heat with:
Quadra Inside I SL – 0.5 l / hr amounts to approx. 3300 Watts
Quadra Inside II SL – 1.0 l / hr amounts to approx. 6600 Watts
Quadra Inside III SL – 1.5 l / hrs measures approx. 9900 Watts
The calorific value of 96.6% ethanol equates to approx. 29,600 kJ / kg. With fuel consumption in the:
Quadra Inside I SL (0.5 l/hr approx. 0.4 kg/hr) = heat released approx. 3300 Watts
Quadra Inside II SL (1.0 l/hr approx. 0.8 kg/hr = heat released approx. 6600 Watts
Quadra Inside III SL (1.5 l/hr approx. 0.8 kg/hr = heat released approx. 9900 Watts
However, the decorative fireplace requires a plentiful supply of fresh air when operated as otherwise the amount of carbon dioxide created exceeds the permitted
concentration in the room air.
As a rule, the fresh air supplied is cooler than the room air to be heated up which results in a loss of energy. The effective heat output of a biofuel fireplace is thus
minimal and, as such, decorative fireplaces which use biofuel are not sources of heat.
This is a decorative fireplace that is not intended for heating or continuous operation. Nevertheless, it should be taken into account that heat is generated as a
by-product of the combustion process. This can cause increased heating in the room where the fireplace is installed. Read the safety instructions and measures for
rear ventilation carefully.
Observe these operating instructions.

1. GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
Small children, older or frail persons: As is the case with all heaters, it
makes sense to install a safety device for these person groups. Danger
of burn injuries! Never leave these groups of persons unattended near
the stove when an ebios-fire is burning or has just been extinguished! The
ebios-fire must not be operated without supervision!
State-specific and local directives and regulations, in particular the fire
safety regulations of the German Federal State or the Association of Swiss
Canton Fire Insurance companies (VKF) must be complied with for the set-
up and operation of your ebios-fire.
The ebios-fire Quadra Inside units are tested in accordance with the very
latest safety standards and represent state-of-the-art technology.
During installation, ensure that the stipulations in this installation manual
are followed accurately. Select the installation location to assure compli-
ance with the rear ventilation and fire safety measures described in this
manual. The installation location must ensure that the burner does not move
in response to jolts or similar events while it is operating.
The ebios-fire Quadra Inside is designed for bespoke or 'individual' instal-
lations. The builder of the fireplace is responsible for complying with the
stipulations governing operational and fire safety, and for checking this at
the commissioning stage. (on this subject, refer to 4. Safety assessment)
All models may only be operated with the closed housing cover.
Please note that fuel must not be refilled while the appliance
is still hot or while a fire is still burning. NEVER fill at the
burner channel. Instead, ONLY refill it via the filling opening!
We recommend that you put out the ebios-fire by running it until the fuel
tank runs dry. When not in use, the cover plates must always be placed
over the burner.
Only permit people to fill the equipment with fuel who are familiar with the
equipment and with the
safety requirements, and who have received instructions from you in the
operation of this appliance.
The ebios-fire is not a heater but a decorative fire.
Bioethanol is a dangerous substance and must only be stored in the speci-
fied quantities as per the regulations:
Storage in a cellar: max. 20 litres
Storage in the living room: max. 5 litres
1.1 SPECIAL NOTES ON INSTALLATION

many as heating appliances, and therefore as fireplaces for which official
approval is required. Obtain advice in advance about construction legislation
provisions and stipulations governing the installation of this heating appli-
ance. Please direct any questions you may have to your district chimney
sweep. In addition, national and European standards, the respective state-
specific and local directives and regulations, in particular the respective
firing installation ordinance must be followed.

Please follow the information below carefully. Bear in mind that bioethanol
is a liquid fuel which is highly flammable and which results in high local
temperatures when burnt. Failure to comply with the instructions for instal-
lation and operation can result in dangerous situations and even explosion
of the fuel. Proper installation and handling ensure safe and reliable opera-
tion. The device must not be able to tilt and must be positioned horizontally.

6. In areas accessible to the public which are not supervised.
7. In areas which are not protected against transverse ventilation
8. On tables, pieces of furniture, shelves etc.
3.5 INSTALLATION/ASSEMBLY
The ebios-fire Quadra Inside appliances are turnkey units for installation
in the cover plate of a bespoke furniture item (combustible materials) or
in a tailor-made open fireplace (non-combustible materials). No flue gas
extraction is required for bespoke fireplaces featuring the Quadra Inside SL.
The ebios-fire furniture item, which may be free-standing or wall-mounted,
must be aligned horizontally and secured to prevent tilting. Rear ventilation
must not be closed. Place the burner with reactor containment and cover
plate into the receiving units provided in the Quadra Inside. Floor-mounted
furniture may only be set up on floors with sufficient load-bearing capacity.
If the load bearing capacity is not sufficient, suitable measures must be
taken (e.g., plate for load distribution) to remedy this. Use suitable fasten-
ing material (wall plugs, screws etc.) when securing to the wall.
NO design modifications whatsoever are permitted to the design of the
Quadra Inside SL models.
3.6 GENERAL NOTES FOR INSTALLATION IN BESPOKE
FURNITURE ITEMS
In all cases involving bespoke furniture design for installation with
Quadra Inside SL, they at least comprise a cover plate/table-top and a
housing area with an additional air intake. No housing area is needed for
table-top installations, but it would be advisable to have one.
During installation in a bespoke furniture item (combustible materials),
always bear in mind that the Quadra Inside must NOT be installed in a
furniture niche. Risk of fire!
There must be no objects between the Quadra Inside SL and room ceil-
ing (distance to the ceiling >1000 mm)!
The Quadra Inside SL may only be installed in the cover plate / table-
tops of a furniture item. (example: bureau, sideboard, pull-out cabinet,
table)
The Quadra Inside must always be bolted to the cover plate / table-top.
The furniture items must always be securely mounted to the wall or
to the floor and secured to prevent any accidental movement, toppling
and/or lifting action. For this, appropriate fastening material must be
selected.
All inlet apertures and rear ventilation features must be left unob-
structed, and must not be blocked since otherwise a heat build-up would
take place. Risk of fire!

3.9 COMBUSTION AIR SUPPLY
Your ebios-fire draws its combustion air from the room in which it is
installed (dependent on indoor air). It must be ensured that there is a suf-
ficient supply of fresh air to the room in which the fire is installed. It is
possible that there is not a sufficient supply of fresh air if the windows and
doors are sealed (e.g., in combination with energy saving measures). This
can compromise your well-being and, under certain circumstances, also
your safety and the combustion performance. Open a window to ensure a
sufficient supply of fresh air.

4. SAFETY CHECK
The temperatures in the area of direct radiant heat of a bespoke fireplace
insert must not exceed 85°C to combustible components while tempera-
tures on the burner tanks must not exceed 65°C through compliance with
the rear ventilation measures.
Bespoke designs of fireplace inserts with integrated Quadra Inside ethanol
burners must be checked prior to commissioning by the stove builder to
assure their operational safety. For this, temperatures must be measured
while in operation. For this, suitable contact thermometers or also digital
laser temperature measuring devices (e.g. VOLTCRAFT® IR 900-30S infra-
red thermometers with a measuring range of -50 to +900°C exist). Tem-
peratures should be measured over a period of at least 6 hours.
For these measurements on fireplace inserts made of glass (e.g. room
dividers in spa and wellness areas or restaurants, hotels etc.), appropriate
measurement points should be attached with adhesive. Follow the instruc-
tions in the manual for your temperature measuring appliance.
Ensure that the ethanol in the tank never reaches boiling temperature, i.e.
the maximum temperature must be less than 65°C. That is particularly
important.
4.1 GENERAL INFORMATION ON OPERATION
Small children, elderly or infirm persons: As is the case with all open
flames, it is expedient that you attach a protective fixture for these
groups of persons (available as an accessory from specialist dealers)
Risk of burn injuries! Never leave these groups of persons unattended
near the stove when an ebios-fire is burning or has just been extin-
guished! Make these individuals aware of these risks.
No combustible objects may be placed or laid on the free surfaces of the
ebios-fire Quadra Inside. Do not place items of clothing on the furniture
to dry. Racks for drying clothing may only be placed outside the radiation
area (Figs. 16, 20 and 24)! Risk of fire!
Thermal energy is released during the combustion process which causes
the burner, the housing surfaces, the glass panes (depending on the
model) and the protective glass panes to heat up. Do not attempt to
touch these components without adequate protection (i.e. heat-resistant
gloves). Danger of burn injuries!
Never leave the fire unattended while it is lit!
With Quadra Inside ensure that the housing apertures are closed and
that the protective panes are mounted.
It is recommended to open a window during operation.
Several decorative ethanol fireplaces may only be operated if the fuel
consumption rate of all devices together does not exceed 0.5 l/h and if
additional measures are taken to ensure sufficient ventilation. In this
context, please observe the Technical Data table, item 3.1.
GB 26
The burner may only be operated with the burner fleece and these wicks.
It is not permitted to change the number of wicks, the wick material or
the burner fleece.
The ebios-fire furniture must not be modified.
This is merely a decorative fireplace for use in the home and is not
intended for heating or continuous operation! Nevertheless, do bear in
mind that heat is generated as a by-product of the combustion process
with the:
Quadra Inside I SL (approx. 3 kW)
Quadra Inside II SL (approx. 6 kW)
Quadra Inside III SL (approx. 6 kW)
This can cause the installation room to heat up under certain
circumstances.
There should never be any fuel in the tank and the cover must always be
placed on the burner when it is not in use.
The burners are designed for the fuel to be burnt until all gone. If you
only wish to enjoy the flames for a short period of time, use a corre-
spondingly smaller amount of fuel. If you wish to take the burner out of
operation at an earlier stage than normal, place the cover on the burner
with the aid of the 'cold hand'. After shutting down the burner, always
allow at least 1 hour
The burner must NOT be filled when warm or alight and must NOT be
filled via the burner channel! DANGER TO LIFE!
The handling of fuel in the vicinity of the hot or burning appliance is
associated with significant risks and is not permitted!
Only fill the burner via the filling opening and never via the burner
channel!
Should you accidentally spill ethanol, clean this up immediately and
before lighting the burner!
Please note that the luminosity of the flame can decrease to such an
extent that the flame is no longer clearly visible. Make children and
others in the home aware of this.
Minimum waiting time between extinguishing and refilling the burner
= 1 hour!
Do not smoke when handling fuel and operating the ebios-fire.
Failure to follow these basic rules can result in uncontrolled ignition
or even explosions!
4.2 FIRE PROTECTION
Please note: In the radiation area, see Figs. 10 and 14 (in the area of
the flames/furniture) no flammable components and furniture are permitted
within 1000 mm upwards and to the sides (only with ventilated radiation
protection fitted on both sides).
There must be no flammable objects (decorations, clothing etc.) in the
radiation area. In order to guarantee sufficient thermal insulation, there
must be a minimum distance of 1000 mm to flammable components at the
side, furniture, decorations and curtains! There must be no objects between
the fireplace and room ceiling (distance to the ceiling >1000 mm)!
1000 mm

GB 27
4.3 FUEL
Bioethanol (chemical formula C2H6O) with an ethanol content of 96.6% is
used as the fuel. This can be purchased from specialist dealers. This is a
hazardous substance as defined by ADR: Class 3 PG III, UN 1170.
Under no circumstances should other fuels such as petrol, spirit or similar
flammable liquids be used. Do not mix the fuels together or with other
substances. The burners may only be operated using the prescribed fuel
otherwise the warranty will be rendered void and the device may be unsafe
or dangerous to operate.
Ethanol is a highly flammable liquid which must be stored well sealed, pro-
tected from light and away from sources of fire. It is permitted to store max.
5 l in the living space and max. 20 l in the cellar. Keep bioethanol out of
the reach of children. For your safety only fill the burner just before use to
prevent it from being ignited unintentionally or by unauthorised persons and
to also stop the fuel from evaporating.
Please note that ethanol is used exclusively for combustion and it not suit-
able for consumption. Supervise your children! If swallowed consult a doctor
immediately and present the fuel label.
4.4 COMMISSIONING
The ebios-fire Quadra Inside is supplied with an empty burner to prevent any
ethanol from flowing out or evaporating during transit. Ensure (particularly
before being put into use) that there is no fuel in the safety container.
4.4.1 COMMISSIONING OF THE QUADRA INSIDE SL
Proceed as follows:
1. Ensure that the air supply is sufficient.
2. Make sure that the burner has gone out and has cooled down fully
(minimum waiting time after being extinguished = 1 hour).
3. The burner can remain in the housing when being
refilled. Open the housing cover. Depending on
the installation situation, the protective panes
may need to be removed. When being installed in
a bespoke fire area (chimney system) the burner
should be filled outside the housing (the level indi-
cator must be clearly visible)
4. Check the tank content.
5. Make sure that the cover plate is placed on the
burner and covers the burner fleece.
6. Use a wrench to open the filling screw.
7. Insert the funnel into the filling opening and
pour a maximum of 2.6 l of bioethanol into
each burner unit.
GB 28
8. The fill level indicator shows the maximum
permitted fill level. The maximum fill level
is reached when the bioethanol runs out of
the slit (see arrow) into the reflector curve.
9. Take the bottle to wet the burner. Guide the
bottle with the opening into the tank aper-
ture until it reaches into the fuel. Press the
bottle together so that the air escapes and
the fuel is sucked up when it is released.
Wait until the bottle returns to its original
shape.
10. Seal the filling plug securely using the
wrench.
11. Close the housing cover on the fireplace furniture
unit and ensure that the cover does not extend
into the flame area and instead maintains a
uniform distance from the burner channel. Then
insert the protective panes.
12. Insert the cold hand to grip the cover plate
and lift it off.
13. Wet the burner fleece with fuel using the
bottle which has just been filled.
14. Put the bottle down to one side.
15. Wait approx. 2 minutes before igniting the fire to allow the wick to be
fully saturated with ethanol.
16. Ignite the fire on the burner fleece and step back from the flames. It may
take a few minutes until uniform flames appear.
Should you ever pour in too much fuel and cause the burner to overflow,
the ethanol collects in the safety container. Empty this immediately and
before lighting the burner. Clean the surface of the burner until it is dry and
completely free of ethanol.
Caution: Ethanol is highly combustible. There must be no sources of igni-
tion in the vicinity!
GB
GB 29
4.4.2 REFILLING THE BURNER
The burner must NOT be filled when warm or alight and must NOT be
filled via the burner channel! DANGER TO LIFE!
Minimum waiting time between extinguishing and refilling the burner
= 1 hour!
Please also leave the protective panes which may still be hot on the
device during this time! Danger of burn injuries!
The burners are designed for the fuel to be burnt until all gone. If you
only wish to enjoy the flames for a short period of time, use a cor-
respondingly smaller amount of fuel. If you wish to take the burner out
of operation prematurely, place the cover on the burner with the aid of
the grip stick.
Proceed as follows to refill:
When being installed in
a bespoke fire area (chimney system), the burner
should be filled outside the housing (level indica-
tor should be clearly visible).
4. Check the tank content.
5. Make sure that the cover plate is placed on the burner and covers the
burner fleece.
6. Use a wrench to open the filling screw.
7. Insert the funnel into the filling opening and
pour in a maximum of 2.6 l of bioethanol.
8. The fill level indicator shows the maximum
permitted fill level. That maximum fill level
is reached when bioethanol begins to run
out of the slot (see arrow) and into the
reflector curve.
To ignite the burner, follow the steps 9 to 16 described in Point 4.4.1!
GB 30
4.4.3 TAKING OUT OF OPERATION SAFELY
If you wish to take the burner out of operation at an earlier stage than
normal, place the cover on the burner with the aid of the 'cold hand'.
Insert the 'cold hand' to grip the cover plate and then cover this over the
burner channel.
5. CLEANING AND CARE
The ebios-fire Quadra Inside must only be cleaned when cold.
5.1 CLEANING CLADDING PARTS
Wait until the device has cooled down before cleaning (at least 1 hour)!
Decorative metal surfaces and the cladding parts can be cleaned with a
moist cloth (do not use a microfibre cloth!).
Glass surfaces can be cleaned with a standard glass cleaner and a soft
cloth (do not use a microfibre cloth!).
Stainless steel surfaces can be cleaned with a standard stainless steel
cleaner. Only use in the direction of the finish!
Remove any dust on and below the ebios-fire furniture regularly as dust
particles can burn or char. This can cause dirt in the room and on the
furnishings where the fire is installed.
6. MAINTENANCE/TROUBLESHOOTING
The wick and burner fleece must be visually inspected at regular inter-
vals. The material can be easily damaged. As such, the burner fleece
should not be folded, bent or similar. It is not permitted to change the
burner fleece or wick.
The burner fleeces must be replaced after about 800 operating hours
(the equivalent to fuel throughput of approx. 400 L of bio-ethanol).
Please contact your specialist dealer.
Only use our original spare parts.
The tank seal must be examined occasionally for cracks or brittleness
and should be replaced if necessary.
Please contact your specialist dealer should you have any questions.
