Setting the right focus
The camera automatically sets the focus and detects faces in all capturing modes.
It can also detect and track a moving object. A yellow frame indicates the face or
moving object that is in focus.
One way to change the focus area is to move your camera around with the camera
key half pressed. Once the focus is set, the circular frame turns blue. This
technique can be used, for example, to change the focus to a person who is at the
side of a group photo.
You can also tap the screen to focus on a specific area, or set a specific focus
distance. These options are only available for the main camera and depend on the
capturing mode selected.
To set the focus distance
1 When using the main camera, tap Mode > .
2 Tap .
3 Drag the slider to adjust the focus distance.
4 Close the settings menu. The setting is saved.
5 Press the camera key or tap the shutter button to take a photo.
This setting is only available in Manual mode for the main camera.
Bokeh and Monochrome eects
You can take pictures with the Bokeh and Monochrome eects when using the
dual camera on your device. The Bokeh eect decreases focus in the background
of a photo to emphasise objects at the foreground, for an artistic eect. The
Monochrome eect creates a classic style eect with a smooth gradation between
black and white. The Monochrome eect can be used for both photos and videos.
To take a photo with the Bokeh eect
1 When using the camera, tap Mode > Bokeh.
2 To adjust the background defocus strength, tap
> . Drag the slider to
adjust.
3 To adjust the brightness, tap
. Drag the slider to adjust.
4 Press the camera key or tap the shutter button to take a photo.
If you get too close to or too far to an object while using the Bokeh
eect, a warning
message appears. If this happens, adjust the distance between your camera and the object
to take the photo with Bokeh eect.
To take a photo or record a video with the Monochrome eect
1 When using the camera, tap Mode > Monochrome.
2 Select Monochrome video or Monochrome photo.
3 To adjust the contrast, tap
> . Drag the slider to adjust.
4 To adjust the brightness tap . Drag the slider to adjust.
5 Press the camera key or tap the shutter button to take a photo or record a
video.
