Het wachtwoord voor de vaste schijf biedt aanvullende beveiliging van de gegevens die op het ingebouwde opslagapparaat

zijn opgeslagen. Als u het wachtwoord voor de harde schijf instelt, voegt u een extra beveiligingsniveau toe.

Wanneer u het wachtwoord voor de harde schijf toevoegt, moet u zowel het hoofd- als het gebruikerswachtwoord instellen.
Met het hoofdwachtwoord kunnen gebruikers met beheerdersrechten op de computer het gebruikerswachtwoord in het
scherm BIOS Setup opnieuw instellen. Met het gebruikerswachtwoord kunt u het ingebouwde opslagapparaat vergrendelen.
Nadat u het gebruikerswachtwoord hebt ingesteld, moet u dit samen met het opstartwachtwoord (indien ingesteld) invoeren
wanneer het VAIO-logo verschijnt.

Het wachtwoord voor de vaste schijf is niet beschikbaar op modellen met twee ingebouwde flashopslagapparaten met RAID-configuratie. Zie de online
specificaties voor informatie over de configuratie van uw opslagapparaat.
U kunt de computer niet met het hoofdwachtwoord opstarten.
Als u het hoofdwachtwoord vergeet of als het toetsenbord het niet meer doet, zodat u geen wachtwoord kunt invoeren, is het onmogelijk om toegang
te krijgen tot de gegevens die op het ingebouwde opslagapparaat zijn opgeslagen. Dit wachtwoord kan NIET OPNIEUW WORDEN INGESTELD. U moet
dan voor eigen rekening het ingebouwde opslagapparaat vervangen en u bent alle gegevens kwijt die op het apparaat waren opgeslagen. Schrijf het
hoofdwachtwoord op, bewaar het op een veilige plek en geef het niet aan anderen.

Als uw computer is voorzien van een vingerafdruksensor en u het wachtwoord voor de vaste schijf hebt ingesteld naast de functie voor vingerafdrukverificatie,
kunt u in plaats van het wachtwoord vingerafdrukverificatie gebruiken als u de computer inschakelt. Zie Vingerafdrukverificatie gebruiken (pagina 127)
