GPS – Location-based services
Your phone is equipped with an A-GPS receiver that uses
satellite signals to calculate your location.
Using A-GPS
When you use features that require the A-GPS receiver to find
your location, make sure you have a clear view of the sky. If the
A-GPS receiver does not find your location after a few minutes,
you should move to another location.
QuickGPS
QuickGPS lets you download current satellite position and timing
information from a server instead of from the satellites. This
speeds up the time needed to determine a GPS position.
To use QuickGPS
1
Tap
> Programs > QuickGPS.
2
Tap Download.
Google Maps™ for mobile
Google Maps™ lets you view your current location, find other
locations and calculate routes.
When you start Google Maps your approximate location is shown
using information from nearby mobile base towers. When the
GPS receiver finds your location, the GPS location replaces the
approximate location.
To use Google Maps
Tap
> Programs > Google Maps.
To view help about Google Maps
In Google Maps, tap Menu > Help.

Installing applications
You can install additional programs for your phone. The
programs must be compatible with your phone, meaning they
must be compatible with Windows Mobile version 6.1.
To install an application
1
First download the program to the computer.
2
If the program file is in compressed format, such as .zip, first
extract the file.
3
Read any installation instructions or documentation that
comes with the program. Many programs provide special
installation instructions.
4
Connect your phone to the computer, preferably with the USB
cable.
5
Double-click the program file (usually of .exe format). If it is
of .cab format then copy the file in the device and click on the
file from the device to start installation.
Removing applications
You can remove programs that you have installed. You cannot,
however, remove programs that come with the phone.
To remove an application
1
Tap Start > Settings > the System tab > Remove Programs.
2
In the Programs in storage memory list, select the program you
want to remove and tap Remove.
3
Tap Yes. If another confirmation message appears, tap Yes
again.
Power saving
Some functions and applications may be rather power
consuming. You can improve battery time by closing
applications running in the background and disabling
unnecessary functions. Also illumination, transmitting and
animated pictures are power consuming such as some older
types of SIM cards.
To disable illumination
1
In Main menu, select Start > Settings > the System tab >
Illumination.
2
Unmark Enable Illumination.
To decrease brightness
1
In Main menu, tap Start > Settings > the System tab > Power
> the Backlight tab.
2
Decrease the brightness with the slider.
To use automatic turn off
1
In Main menu, tap Start > Settings > the System tab > Power
> the Advanced tab.
2
Mark the checkboxes and shorten the time before the
different functions are turned off.
To turn off connections
1
In Main menu, tap Start > Settings > the Connections tab >
Comm Manager.
2
Turn off the connections you do not need.
Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Microsoft Direct Push and Data
Connections are rather power consuming.
