Important Information (U.S.)
THIS PHONE MODEL HAS BEEN CERTIFIED IN
COMPLIANCE WITH THE GOVERNMENT’S
REQUIREMENTS FOR EXPOSURE TO RADIO W
AVES.
This mobile phone model T290a has
been designed to comply with
applicable safety requirements for exposure to radio w
aves. Your
wireless phone is a radio transmitte
r and receiver. It is designed
to not exceed the limits for exposure to radio frequency (RF) energ
y
set by the Federal Communications
Commission (FCC) of the U.S.
Government. These limits establish permitted leve
ls of RF energy
for the general population. The gu
idelines are based on standards
that were developed by internati
onal scientific organizations through
periodic and thorough evaluation of
scientific studies. The standards
include a safety margin designed to
assure the safety of all persons,
regardless of age and health.
The exposure standard for wirele
ss mobile phones employs a unit
of measurement known as the Specific Absorption Rate, or SAR.
The SAR limit set by the FCC is 1.6W/kg.* Tests for SAR are
conducted using standard operatin
g positions accepted by the FCC
with the phone transmitting
at its highest certified power level in all
tested frequency bands. Although
the SAR is determined at the
highest certified power level, th
e actual SAR level of the phone
while operating can be well belo
w the maximum value. This is
because the phone is designed to ope
rate at multiple power levels
so as to use only the power required
to reach the network. In general,
the closer you are to a wireless base station antenna, the lo
wer the
power output. Before a phone mode
l is available for sale to the
public, it must be tested and certi
fied to the FCC that it does not
exceed the limit established by th
e government-adopted requirement
for safe exposure. The tests are pe
rformed in positions and locations
(i.e., at the ear and worn on the
body) as required by the FCC for
each model. The highest SAR value as reported to the FCC for this
model phone when tested for use at the ear is 1.18 W/kg and when
worn on the body is 0.75 W/kg. Bo
dy worn measurements are made
while the phone is in use and worn
on the body with an Ericsson or
Sony Ericsson accessory. Accessories can significantly affect SAR
compliance. The Federal Communic
ation Commission requires that
some manufacturers' accessories be
tested, and Sony Ericsson has
done so with respect to its products. Sony Ericsson has only tested
Ericsson and Sony Ericss
on original accessories
in conjunction with
Sony Ericsson phones. It is therefore recommended that only Ericsson
and Sony Ericsson original accessori
es be used in conjunction with
Sony Ericsson phones. The FC
C has granted an Equipment
Authorization for this model phone
with all reported SAR levels
evaluated as in compliance with the FCC RF exposure guidelines
.
While there may be differences between the SAR lev
els of various
phones, all mobile phones grante
d an FCC equipment authorization
meet the government requirement for safe exposure.
SAR information on this model phone is on file with the FCC and
can be found under the Displa
y Grant section of http://
www.fcc.gov/oet/fccid after sear
ching on FCC ID PY7A1041011.
Additional information on Specific
Absorption Rates (SAR) can be
found on the Cellular Telecommunications & Internet Association
(CTIA) web-site at http://phonefacts.net/
.
* In the United States and Cana
da, the SAR limit for mobile
phones used by the public is 1.
6 watts/kilogram
(W/kg) averaged
over one gram of tissue. The stan
dard incorporates
a margin of
safety to give additional protecti
on for the public
and to account
for any variations
in measurements.
