Usable cassettes
Selecting cassette types
You can use the mini DV cassette only.*
You cannot use any other 8 mm , Hi8 ,
Digital8 , VHS , VHSC , S-VHS
, S-VHSC , Betamax , DV or
MICROMV cassette.
* There are 2 types of mini DV cassettes: with
Cassette Memory and without Cassette
Memory.
Cassettes with Cassette Memory have
(Cassette Memory) mark.
We recommend that you use cassettes with
Cassette Memory.
IC memory is mounted on this type of
cassette. Your camcorder can read and write
data such as dates of recording or titles, etc.
to this memory.
The functions using the Cassette Memory
require successive signals recorded on the
tape. If the tape has a blank portion at the
beginning or between recorded portions,
titles may not be displayed properly or the
search functions may not work properly
(except for DCR-TRV12E). Perform the
following to prevent a blank portion from
being made on the tape.
Press END SCH to go to the end of the
recorded portion before you begin the next
recording if you operate the following:
– You have ejected the cassette during
recording.
– You have played back the tape.
– You have used edit search.
If there is a blank portion or discontinuous
signal on the tape, re-record from the
beginning to the end of the tape as described
above.
The same result may occur when you record
using a digital video camera recorder
without Cassette Memory on the tape
recorded by one with the Cassette Memory.

Le logo (mémoire de cassette) est apposé
sur les cassettes dotées de la fonction de
mémoire de cassette.
Il est recommandé d’utiliser des cassettes
dotées d’une mémoire de cassette.
Une mémoire à circuit intégré est intégrée
dans ce type de cassette. Cette mémoire
permet au caméscope de lire et d’enregistrer
des données telles que les dates
d’enregistrement, les titres, etc.
Les fonctions faisant appel à la mémoire de
cassette nécessitent une continuité dans
l’enregistrement des signaux sur la bande. Si
un passage de bande vierge apparaît au
début de la cassette ou entre les scènes
enregistrées, les titres peuvent ne pas
s’afficher correctement ou les fonctions de
recherche ne pas fonctionner correctement
(sauf pour le DCR-TRV12E). Pour ne pas
laisser de passages vierges sur la bande,
effectuez les opérations suivantes.
Appuyez sur END SCH pour localiser la fin
du passage enregistré avant de commencer
l’enregistrement suivant lorsque :
– vous avez éjecté la cassette pendant
l’enregistrement ;
– vous avez lu la cassette ;
– vous avez utilisé la fonction EDIT
SEARCH.
Si un passage vierge ou un signal discontinu
est présent sur la bande, réenregistrez la
cassette du début à la fin, comme indiqué
plus haut.
Le même résultat peut se produire lorsque
vous enregistrez avec un caméscope
numérique sans fonction de mémoire de
cassette sur une cassette qui a été enregistrée
avec un caméscope doté d’une fonction de
mémoire de cassette.
