VIDEO CD
Een compact disc die bewegende beelden bevat.
De beeldgegevens zijn van het MPEG 1-
formaat, één van de wereldwijde normen inzake
digitale compressietechnologie. De
beeldgegevens worden gecomprimeerd tot
ongeveer 1/140e van de oorspronkelijke grootte.
Een VIDEO CD van 12 cm kan dus maximum
74 minuten bewegende beelden bevatten.
VIDEO CD’s bevatten ook compacte
audiogegevens. Geluiden buiten het hoorbare
bereik worden gecomprimeerd terwijl geluiden
die de mens wel kan horen, niet worden
gecomprimeerd. VIDEO CD’s kunnen zes keer
meer audiogegevens bevatten dan conventionele
audio CD’s.
Er zijn 2 versies van VIDEO CD’s.
• Versie 1.1: hiermee kunnen alleen bewegende
beelden en geluid worden afgespeeld.
• Versie 2.0: hiermee kunnen stilstaande
beelden met hoge resolutie worden bekeken en
PBC-functies worden gebruikt.
Dit toestel is compatibel met beide versies.
