Notes on CD-D A discs
ˎBefor e playing, wipe the disc with a cleaning
cloth from the c enter out t o the edge.
ˎDo not clean discs with solvents, such as
benzine, thinner, or commercially av ailable
cleaners or anti-static spr ay intended f or vinyl
LPs.
ˎDo not expose discs t o direct sunlight or hea t
sourc es such as hot air ducts, nor leave it in a car
parked in dir ect sunlight.
On safe ty
ˎComplet ely disconnect the power c ord (mains
lead) from the w all outlet (mains) if it is not
going to be used for an e xtended period of time .
When unplugging the system, always grip the
plug. Never pull the c ord itself .
ˎShould an
y solid object or liquid get into the
system, unplug the system, and have it checked
by qualified personnel befor e opera ting it again.
ˎThe AC power c ord c an be changed only by a
qualified service facility .
On placement
ˎDo not place the syst em in an inclined position
or in locations that ar e e xtremely hot, cold, dusty ,
dirty , or humid or lacking adequate ventilation,
or subject to vibr ation, direct sunlight or a bright
light.
ˎBe c
areful when placing the system on surf aces
that have been specially tr eated (f or example ,
with wax, oil, polish) as st aining or discolor ation
of the surface may r esult.
ˎIf the syst
em is brought dir ectly from a c old to a
warm loca tion or is placed in a very damp room,
moisture may c ondense on the lens inside the
CD player , and cause the system to malfunction.
In this situation, remove the disc, and leave the
system turned on for about an hour until the
moisture ev apora tes.
On heat buildup
ˎHeat buildup on the unit during oper ation is
normal and is not cause f or alarm.
ˎDo not touch the c abinet if it has been used
continuously at a high volume bec ause the
cabinet may have bec ome hot.
ˎDo no
t obstruct the ventilation holes.
On the speak er system
This speaker system is no t magnetically shielde d,
and the picture on nearby TV sets may be come
magnetically dist orted. In this situation, turn off
the TV , wait 15 to 30 minut es, and turn it back on.
Cleaning the cabine t
Clean this system with a soft cloth slightly
moistened with a mild det ergent solution. Do not
use any type of abr asive pads, sc ouring powder ,
or solvents, such as thinner , benzine , or alc ohol.
BLUET OO TH wir eless
technology
BLUET OO TH wir eless technology is a short -r ange
wireles s technology linking digital devic es, such
as personal computers and digit al still camer as.
Using the BLUET OO TH wir eless technology , you
can oper ate the units involve d within a range of
about 10 meters.
The BLUET OO TH wir eless technology is c ommonly
used between two devic es, but a single devic e
can be conne cted to multiple devic es.
Y ou do not need wir es to get c onnected as you
do with a USB connection, and you do not need
to place the devic es fac e to fac e as you do with
wireles s infrar ed technology . Y ou can use the
technology with one BLUET OOTH devic e in your
bag or pocket.
BLUET OO TH wir eless technology is a global
standard supporte d by thousands of companies.
These companies pr oduce pr oducts that meet the
global standard.
Supported BLUET OO TH version and
pr ofiles
Pr ofile refers t o a standard se t of capabilities for
various BLUET OOTH pr oduct capabilities. See
“Specifications” for details on the supported
BLUET OO TH version and pr ofiles.
Notes
ˎT o use a BLUETOO TH devic e connected t o this system,
the device must support the same profile as this syst em.
Note that the functions of the BL UETOO TH device may be
different depending on the specific ations of the device ,
even if it has the same profile as this system.
ˎBecause of the properties of BLUET OOTH wireles s
technology , playback on this system is slightly delayed
compar ed with audio playback on the transmitting devic e.
Effective c ommunication r ange
BLUET OO TH devic es should be used within
appro ximately 10 me ters (unobstructed distanc e)
of each other . The eff ective communic ation
range may be come shorter under the following
conditions.
When a person,
metal object, wall or other
obstruction is between the devic es with a
BLUET OO TH c onnection
L oca tions where a wir eless LAN is installed
Ar
ound microw ave ovens that are in use
L oca tions where other electr omagnetic w aves
occur
Effects of o ther devices
BLUET OO TH devic es and wireles s LAN (IEEE
802. 11b/g) use the same frequency band (2.4
GHz). When using your BLUET OOTH devic e
near a device with wir eless LAN capability ,
electromagne tic interferenc e may oc cur . This
could r esult in lower data tr ansfer r at es, noise,
or inability to conne ct. If this happens, tr y the
following r emedies:
T
ry connecting this system and BLUET OOTH
mobile phone or BLUET OO TH devic e when you
are at least 10 me ters away fr om the wireles s
LAN equipment.
T
urn off the power to the wireles s LAN
equipment when using your BLUET OO TH
device within 10 met ers.
Effects on o ther devices
The radio w aves broadc ast by this system may
interfer e with the opera tion of some medical
devices. Since this interfer ence may r esult in
malfunction, always turn off the power on
this system, BLUETOO TH mobile phone and
BLUET OO TH devic e in the following loca tions:
In hospit
als, on tr ains, and in airplanes
Near aut omatic doors or fire alarms
Notes
ˎThis system supports security functions that comply with
the BLUET OO TH specification as a means of ensuring
security during communica tion using BLUET OO TH
technology . However , this security may be insufficient
depending on the setting cont ents and other factors, so
always be car eful when performing communica tion using
BLUET OO TH technology .
ˎSony cannot be held liable in any w ay for damages or other
loss resulting fr om information leak s during communication
using BLUET OO TH technology .
ˎBLUET OO TH communica tion is not neces sarily guarant eed
with all BLUET OO TH devices that have the same pr ofile as
this system.
ˎBLUET OO TH devices c onnected with this system must
comply with the BLUET OO TH specific ation prescribed
by the BLUET OO TH SIG, Inc., and must be c ertified to
comply . However , even when a device c omplies with the
BLUET OO TH specification, there may be cases where the
charact eristics or specifications of the BLUET OO TH devic e
make it impossible t o connect, or may result in different
contr ol methods, display or oper ation.
ˎNoise may occur or the audio may cut off depending on
the BLUET OO TH device c onnected with this system, the
communica tions environment, or surrounding conditions.
