Before you start editing
You can edit an MD only when:
• The MD is recordable.
• The MD play mode is normal play.
Check the following, before editing.
1 Check the tab of the MD to be edited.
Slide the tab to close the slot.
If the MD is protected, you cannot edit the
MD.
2 Press PLAY MODE/DIRECTION (or
PLAY MODE on the remote) in stop
mode repeatedly until both “SHUF” and
“PGM” disappear.
You can edit the MD only in normal play
mode. You cannot edit the MD in Shuffle or
Programme Play mode.
To cancel the last edit (page 40)
Use Undo Function to cancel the last edit and
restore the contents of the MD to the condition
before the edit.
To quit while editing
Press MENU/NO on the remote.
After editing
Press Z MD to remove the MD or press
?/1 (power) to turn off the system.
“TOC” or “STANDBY” starts flashing. The
TOC is updated and editing is completed.
Before pulling out the mains lead
MD editing is completed when the MD Table
of Contents (TOC) is updated. The TOC is
updated when you eject the MD or press ?/1
to turn off the system. Do not pull out the
mains lead before updating the TOC or while
updating the TOC (while “TOC” or
“STANDBY” is flashing) to ensure a complete
editing.
Labelling an MD
— Name Function
You can create titles for your recorded MDs
and tracks as follows.
During recording
If “TEXT” lights up or flashes during
recording, you can record the CD TEXT
information onto the MD as follows:
• Automatically during recording
When “TEXT” is lit, the CD TEXT
information is automatically recorded.
• Manually during recording
When “TEXT” flashes, press NAME EDIT/
SELECT on the remote, then press ENTER/
YES on the remote to record the title of the
current track.
Notes
• Depending on the disc, the CD TEXT information
may not be recorded automatically.
• The CD TEXT information is not recorded when
recording a CD on an MD and a tape at the same
time.
After recording
Use Name Function on this page. You can
input a total of approximately 1,700 characters
for the disc title, track titles and group titles on
a single MD.
The following procedure is for entering titles
when the Group Function is off.
To label a group, see “Labelling a group” on
page 32.
However, when labelling an MD
recorded using the Group Function, be
sure to label the disc with the Group
Function on so as not to rewrite the
group management information by
mistake.
