Operating and maintenance information

Guide bar:
The guide bar of your
chainsaw requires just as
much care as the saw
chain. The running
surfaces must be flat and
level, and the groove must
not be widened.
In order to prevent one-sided wearing of the guide
bar, we recommend that the guide bar be reversed
whenever the chain is sharpened.
On guide bars with a guide
sprocket, the bearing of the
guide sprocket should
preferably be lubricated with
ball bearing grease (through
the lubricating hole on the side with a grease gun)
every time the chainsaw is refuelled. Rotate the
guide sprocket while doing this.
Important: The guide bars are only designed to
guide the saw chain and must not be used as a
levering tool. Any twisting or turning or use of the
guide bar to gain leverage in the wood shortens the
service life of the guide bars.
11.3 Air Filter Maintenance
Contaminated air filters cause a reduction in engine
performance and increase fuel consumption with
more pollutants in the exhaust gas. Engines are less
likely to start readily with a contaminated air filter.
When using the power tool all day, clean the air filter
daily; under very dusty conditions, even several
times a day.
Carry out the following maintenance jobs regularly.
Taking off the cowl:
Release the three fastening
clips (16), preferably by
applying a screwdriver in a
twisting motion.
Lift off the cowl (5) upwards.
Cleaning the air filter
Important: Pull out the choke (7).
Push both clamping brackets (a) with a screwdriver
off the filter casing.
Remove the upper filter part (b).
Simply tapping or careful blowing through the filter
is the best method for cleaning. When using
compressed air, wear eye protection (e.g. safety
goggles), and hold the compressed air stream not
too closely against the air filter.
In case of severe contamination, the air filter can
be cleaned with non-flammable cleaning fluid
(warm soapy solution).
NB: The air filter must be absolutely dry before
it is reinstalled.
Clean the lower casing part (c) up to the closed
choke damper with a paint brush or remove dirt
and dust particles carefully by blowing them out of
the casing.
After cleaning, carefully position the dry filter
element (b) onto the lower casing part (c). There
must not be any open gap around the filter
element.
Close the air filter securely with both clamping
brackets (a).
The corresponding parts should be replaced
immediately if the filter material is damaged. No
warranty claims can be accepted for engine damage
arising as a result of inadequate care.
Fitting the cowl
For ease of installation press the hand
protection (3) forwards (chain brake is
applied).
Fit the cowl, making sure it goes on straight.
Insert the cowl in the slot on the main housing,
making sure that it fits properly in the slot all the
way around.
Once the cowl is correctly seated, secure the cowl
again using the three fastening clips (16).
