General requirements of the meteorological data:
☐ The data series begins on the 1st of January at 01:00 a.m.
☐ The values cover a complete year (365 days).
☐ The values are available in a time interval of 1 hour. This equates to 8760 time intervals.
☐ Values on global solar radiation and ambient temperature are included.
☐ The values on global solar radiation are based on horizontal surfaces.
☐ The values on global solar radiation and ambient temperature have each been been measured
on the hour, i.e. at 3:00 a.m., 4:00 a.m. etc. and not at 3:30 a.m. and 4:30 a.m. Tip: If the
meteorological data to be imported has not been measured on the hour, you can perform
corrections upon importing in the window that opens up.
Requirements on the structure of a CSV file:
☐ In the header (first line), there are 5 separators.
☐Either a semicolon [ ; ], a tabulator, a comma [ , ] or a pipe character [ | ] are used as
separators.
☐ Either a period [ . ] or a comma [ , ] is used as decimal and thousand separator. Tip: The
thousand separator is optional.
☐ Separators, decimal and thousand separators are to be used consistently in the file, e.g. a
period may not be used as a decimal separator in one line and in another line as a thousand
separator.
☐ If the header is to contain information on the meteorological data:
• The following information is given in the following sequence and separated by separators:
reference, commentary, longitude, latitude, time zone, time correction. Tip: Information that
is not to be stated is left out. There is also the possibility of entering the data later during
import via Sunny Design.
• The information on the meteorological data is stated as follows:
– Reference as text, e.g. a location name.
–Comment as text
– Longitude in ° and decimal notation. The following applies: positive values = east,
negative values = west
– Latitude in ° and in decimal notation. The following applies: positive values = northern
hemisphere, negative values = southern hemisphere
– Time zones in hours relative to GMT and in decimal notation. The following applies:
positive values = easterly, negative values = westerly.
– Time correction: in hours and in decimal notation.
Example: Correcting values after importing
Sunny Design expects the first time point to be 1st of January, 01:00 a.m. If the initial
measurement of the values was made at 0:30 a.m., then -0.5 hrs must be stated for time
correction. The time correction must always be stated in hours and in decimal notation.
