ADJUSTING
THREAD
TENSIONS
The
balance
of
tension
between
the
upper
thread
and
the
bobbin
thread
is
most
important
for
a
good
sewing
performance
with
neat
stitching.
Correct
Tension
The
tension
on-
the
upper
thread
and
bobbin
thread
should
be
equal.
If
the
tensions
are
balanced,
you
will
obtain
a
perfectly
locked
stitch
with
both
threads
drawn
equally
into
the
fabric,
as
shown
in
Fig.
.28.
Your
machine
has
been
tested
so
that
the suitable
tension
for
the
sewing
with
ordinary
thread
and
the
fabric
can
be
found
easily
between
3—6.
However,
it
may
be
necessary
to
adjust
the
tension
somewhat
if
different
size
of
thread
and
the
special
kind
of
fabrics
are
used.
Upper
Thread
Tension
Too
Tight
If
the
upper
thread
lies
straight
along
the
upper
surface
of
the
fabric
and
the
bobbin
thread
is
loose,
decrease
the
upper
tension
by
turning
the
thread
tension
dial
downward
in
the
arrow
direction.
(Fig.
29)
Upper
Thread
Tension
Too
Loose
If
the
bobbin
thread
lies
straight
along
the
underside
of
the
fabric
and
the
upper
thread
is
loose,
increase
the
upper
tension
by
turning
the
thread
tension
dial
up
ward,
in
the
arrow
direction.
(Fig.
30)
NEVER
FORCIBLY
TURN
THE
TENSION
DIAL
EITHER
OVER
9
OR
UNDER
0.
Adjustment
of
Bobbin
Thread
Tension
In
most
cases,
tension
can
be
adjusted
simply
by
means
of
the
upper
thread
tension
as
mentioned
above.
However,
should
the
adjustment
of
bobbin
thread
tension
be
required,
do
so
by
turning
the
screw®with
the
small
screwdriver
in
the
accesso
ries.
Turn
it
no
more
than
1/10th
of
a
turn
to
the
left
if
the bobbin
thread
tension
is
too
tight,
and
to
12
right
if
it
is
too
loose.
