8. Preparing an
espresso - the most
important steps
Before you get to know the individual prepa-
ration steps and all the tips and tricks in the
following chapters, here is an overview of
the steps you need for every good espresso:
1. Select and insert the filter1/2

4. Measure, flatten and press the espresso
powder (tamping)
5. Remove espresso powder residues from
the edge

9.1 Filling the water tank
WARNING! Risk of material damage!
~Never put liquids other than fresh, cold
drinking water into the water tank3!
Use fresh water every day.
1. Pull out the water tank3.
2. Pour out any remaining water from the
water tank3 and rinse the water tank
several times thoroughly with clean wa-
ter.
3. Fill the water tank3 with fresh, cold tap
water at least up to the MIN marking
and at most up to the MAX marking.
4. Push the water tank3 back into the ma-
chine. Note that the hose6 must pro-
trude into the water tank.
Refill the water in good time
WARNING! Risk of material damage!
~To prevent damage to the heating ele-
ment, do not operate the device without
water in the water tank3.
Always make sure that the water tank3 is
filled to at least the MIN marking.
9.2 Inserting the drip tray
and drip grid
