5. How to use
FIRE HAZARD!
~Place the device on a dry, level, non-slip
and heat-resistant surface.
~The device must not be operated close
to flammable liquids or materials, or in
a potentially explosive environment.
Keep at a distance of at least 30 cm
from walls.
~In order to prevent an overheating of
the device, do not cover the device and
do not cover the ventilation slots6 on
the underside of the device.
NOTE: when in operation for the first time,
some odour may be generated by the de-
vice. This is not a product defect. Therefore,
prior to the initial food dehydration process,
you should clean the device, operate it in an
empty state according to the following in-
structions, and then clean it again. Here, en-
sure adequate ventilation.
Remove all packing material.
Check to ensure that all parts are pres-
ent and undamaged.
Clean the device prior to its first
use! (see “Cleaning” on page 31)
1. Place the base unit8 on a dry, level,
non-slip surface.
2. Put the food dehydrator trays3 and the
top food dehydrator tray2 on the de-
vice.
3. Mount the lid1.
4. Insert the mains plug4 into a wall sock-
et corresponding to the specifications of
the rating plate. On the display13 00
flashes and Hr is shown.
5. Using the buttons 15 and +16 set
the drying time to 1 hour (01 Hr).
6. Briefly press the button 14 once.
On the display 55 flashes and °C is
shown.
7. Using the buttons 15 and +16 set
the drying temperature to 70 °C.

to
start the device.
9. Once the time set has elapsed, the de-
vice switches off. The fan9 stops. For a
brief time, an audio signal will sound
and the display13 will show 00 contin-
uously.
NOTE: you can cancel the initial heating up
process after just 30 minutes by keeping
the
button

pressed until t
he fan9 stops
and the display13 permanently shows 00.
10.Pull out the mains plug4.
11.Allow the device to cool down.
12.Clean the device again (see “Cleaning”
on page 31).
6. Food dehydration
6.1 General information on
the food dehydration
process
Food dehydration is a preservation process.
It is based on the extraction of water from
food. A low water content deprives bacteria
and mildew of their fundamental living con-
ditions. The dehydration process occurs at
relatively low temperatures (40 - 70 °C).
There is no need to add chemical additives,
salt or sugar. Thus, the food remains untreat-
ed. The major part of the vitamins remains
intact. The drying process causes a concen-
tration of minerals, fibres and nutrients.
