Vast IP-adres
Een vast IP-adres wordt bij de netwerk-
configuratie handmatig toegewezen
aan een netwerkcomponent. In tegen-
stelling tot een Dynamisch IP-adres
verandert een vast IP-adres niet.
Verificatie
Beperking van de toegang tot een net-
werk/dienst door aanmelding met
behulp van een ID en een wachtwoord.
VoIP
Voice over Internet Protocol
Telefoongesprekken worden niet meer
via het telefoonnet, maar via Internet
(of andere IP-netwerken) tot stand
gebracht en gevoerd.
VoIP-provider
Een VoIP-, SIP- of Gateway-Provider-
provider is een aanbieder op internet
die een Gateway voor internettelefo-
nie ter beschikking stelt. Omdat het
telefoontoestel met de SIP-standaard
werkt, moet uw provider de SIP-stan-
daard ondersteunen.
De provider stuurt gesprekken van VoIP
door naar het telefoonnetwerk (ana-
loog, ISDN en mobiel) en omgekeerd.
Duplex
Modus bij de gegevensoverdracht
waarbij tegelijkertijd gegevens kunnen
worden verzonden en ontvangen.

Wide Area Network
Ruimtelijk onbegrensd netwerk (bij-
voorbeeld Internet).
Wachtmuziek
Music on hold
Muziek die wordt gespeeld tijdens Rug-
gespraak of bij een Wisselgesprek. De
gesprekspartner die in de wacht staat,
hoort een wachtstandmelodie.
Weergegeven naam
Functie van uw VoIP-provider. U kunt
een willekeurige naam opgeven, die bij
uw gesprekspartner wordt weergege-
ven, in plaats van uw telefoonnummer.
Wisselgesprek
Met behulp van een wisselgesprek is
het mogelijk heen en weer te schakelen
tussen twee gesprekspartners of een
conferentie en een afzonderlijke
gesprekspartner, zonder dat de
gesprekspartner in de wachtstand kan
meeluisteren.
