I had a battery symbol appear so I changed batteries. Now the display shows every symbol there is and no matter which button I press - nothing happens. I tried the reset button and nothing happened. Help please

My heating has been off for 5 months. No display on the thermostat so replaced the batteries and reset it. Still no display at all. Help??
