194 Exporting
To write to DV or HDV camcorder (also called print to tape):
1. Select the
button on the Tasks toolbar.
2. From the dialog, choose either
or
for DV or HDV camcorders, respectively.
3. Check that your DV or HDV template from the Export Settings list is
correct. If not, choose a different setting. For information about
choosing PAL or NTSC menu options, please see
NTSC vs. PAL on p.
??.
4. (Optional) Change render quality (between Draft and Best quality).
Set Draft if you're testing your export. The Render Quality setting
controls the level of video and audio processing carried out during
export—affecting the visual quality of effects and transitions applied to
clips in your project. A Best render quality means a longer export time
compared to Draft, but this gives high-quality effects and transitions.
To save time, use the latter when testing.
5. (Optional) Uncheck Keep export file, to always recreate the export file
(avoiding file caching).
6. Click Finish.
7. To save the file, locate a target folder and specify a name for your avi
(for DV) or m2t file (for HDV) in the File name box, then click the
Save button. Your project will then be composed and converted into
the specified format and you will be shown a progress bar during this
process.
Once the first stage of exporting is complete, you'll need to have your
camcorder connected and set to Record mode before continuing.
