Sandwich Maker
SSM 1100
2011 09/2011
BEFORE FIRST USE
1) Remove the Sandwich Maker from the packing material.
2) Wipe the cooking plates with a wet cloth or sponge and dry completely with a paper towel or dry
cloth.
3) Connect the Sandwich Maker to the power supply and leave it turned on for at least 5–7 minutes
to dissipate any odour.
Note:
When fi rst turned on, there may be light smoke emitted. This is due to the heating of internal
components and it will pass in a moment.
USING THE SANDWICH MAKER
1) Coat the cooking plates 5 with a little butter or cooking oil.
2) Plug the sandwich maker into the electrical socket. The red pilot light 1 goes on.
3) Close the sandwich maker to allow the cooking plates to heat up faster.
4) While the cooking plates are heating up, prepare the sandwiches. For one sandwich you will need
two slices of bread and the ingredients to go between them. Place the ingredients neatly between
the slices of bread. Too big a stack of ingredients may make it hard to close the sandwich maker. In
that case, it may be necessary to remove some of the ingredients. Do not force the sandwich maker
shut, as this may damage it.
Tip:
Try some of the recipes listed below.
5) As soon as the cooking plates have heated up to operating temperature, the red pilot light 1 goes
off.
Note:
During operation, the pilot light goes on and off from time to time. This shows that the operating
temperature of cooking plates is maintained.
Open the sandwich maker and place one sandwich on the bottom plate. Using the handle 2, close
and press the upper cooking plate toward the lower one. Secure handles 2 with the lock 3.
6) After 2 to 3 minutes, release the lock 3, lift the upper plate, and either remove the sandwich or
continue cooking it, if necessary. To remove the sandwich use a wooden or heat-resistant plastic
spatula. Do not use a fork, a knife or anything else made of metal. This may damage the non-stick
coating.
Note:
The cooking time depends on the type of bread, the ingredients and your taste.
7) Before cooking another sandwich, close the sandwich maker and wait until the red pilot light 1
shuts off.
8) After you fi nish using the sandwich maker, unplug it from the electrical socket.
