Induction and selecting suitable cookware
■ Underneath the hotplate there is an induction coil that, when turned on, creates
avariable electromagnetic field. The induction current generated by this field starts
heating the bottom of the pot or pan that is placed on the hotplate. T o ensure
proper operation, it is important that the cookware is ferromagnetic. This property
can be verified using asmall magnet placed against the bottom of the pot or pan.
If there is an attraction between the magnet and the bottom of the pot or pan then
the cookware is ferromagnetic and hence suitable f or use on an induction hotplate.
This includes, for example, cast ir on, steel, enamelled and stainless steel cookware
with aferromagnetic bottom.
■ We rec ommend that the base of the cookware is flat and straight. The minimum
diameter of the base is 12cm, the maximum diameter may be up to 2 cm past the
edge of the hotplate. The induction hotplate automatically adapts to the size of the
used pot or pan.
■ If, on the other hand, there is no a ttraction between the magnet and the bottom of
the pot or pan then the cookware is not suitable for use on an induction hotplate.
As arule, this includes cookware made fr om copper, pur e stainless steel, aluminium,
glass, wood, ceramics , stone, etc.
Note:
When unsuitable cookware is used or if the hotplate detects that there is
no cookware on it, then it will turn off automatically . This is a normal safety
feature that prev ents damaging the appliance.
