4-2-2. Measuring with Reected Light System
Use 5-degree Viewnder, reected light attachment,
(sold separately) to make reected light readings with
the L-478D/DR.
This method measures the brightness (luminance)
of the light reected from the subject. It is useful for
distant objects such as landscapes, when you cannot
go to the position of the subject , or for metering
subjects that generate light (neon signs, etc), highly
reective surfaces or translucent subjects (stained
glass, etc).
Reected light measurements are made at the
camera position by aligning the circle in the
viewnder eyepiece with the subject area to be
measured.

1. Remove the Lumisphere
The lumisphere unit is removed by holding
both the upper and lower sections of
Lumisphere retracting ring and turning it
to the left while pushing the Lock lever

downward
2. Attach the Lumisphere
Align the mark on the Lumisphere with the
mark on the meter head and, while pressing
it in, turn the Lumisphere to the right until it
clicks into place.

Check to see that the Lumisphere lock lever

is engaged.

When attaching/detaching lumisphere or viewnder, be sure not to touch the light receiving element inside the meter
head.

When the light receiving element gets dirty, clean it with soft and dry cloth. Never use organic cleaners such as thinner
or benzene.
